Regardless of what critic say about the Necronomicon Tradition it still stands as a modern legacy of ancient Sumerian spiritual practices

Greetings! Over the past few years we have enjoyed sharing and interacting with many of our readers. Exploring the Necronomicon Tradition, its vital elements, and history has been both a learning process, and an enjoyable experience. Recently, there has been some confusion about the Necronomicon Tradition, its meaning, and etc. I would like to clarify a few things about our work and the tradition itself.

Recently, we have presented our Readership with some interesting information concerning the origin of Lovecraft’s “Cthulhu” and how it relates to ancient Mesopotamia. Readers can review these articles by clicking on the following links:

Subscriber Satan’s Avenger was kind enough to express his thoughts on the matter by posting a comment. I will answer his comment in an interview format:

Satan’s Avenger: I’m going to throw at you Necro-buffs a curve ball here…

Warlock Asylum: Thank you very much for the home-run pitch!

Satan’s Avenger: The Simon Necronomicon also says:

“Of all the Gods and Spirits of Abomination, KUTULU only cannot be summoned, for he is the Sleeping Lord. The magician can not hope to have any power over him, but he may be worshipped and for him the proper sacrifices may be made, so that he will spare thee when he rises to the earth. And the times for the sacrifice are the same times as the Sleeping of MARDUK, for this is when Great KUTULU moves….And he is the very Fire of the Earth, and Power of All Magick. When he joins with the Abominations of the Sky,
TIAMAT will once more rule the earth!..And the altar should be of a large rock set in the earth, and a sacrifice acceptable unto the nature of the God should be made. And at the time of the Calling, the waters of ABSU will roil, and KUTULU will stir, but unless it be His time, he will not Rise…Kutulu is the SLEEPING LORD and the very FIRE of the Earth and the Power of all magick.”

Warlock Asylum: This is true!

Satan’s Avenger: If we know what the fire of the earth is – we then know what Kutulu is. It’s when he becomes active like a raging fire and rises to the join the Abominations in the sky, then Tiamat ( a very different creature ) will once more rule this earth – not Jesus, or Jehovah; but TIAMAT !

Warlock Asylum:  That’s a very interesting observation. First I must say that your “curveball” is answered thoroughly in the Atlantean Necronomicon. Jehovah is the Jewish and Christian interpretation of Tiamat. The name of the Judaic deity Jehovah, is based on the tetragrammation, which encompasses four particular letters of the Hebrew alphabet. When you define these four letters, you will find that they are equivalent to, as Samuel Noah Kramer described best, the four major deites of ancient Mesopotamia personified, which are Ninhursag (earth), Enki (water), Enlil (air), and Anu (fire). This is why some of the passages in the Old Testament appear contradictory, since Jehovah appears as one deity, when in actuality it is one of the four talking. So the Jehovah that told Noah to build an ark, Enki, is not the same Jehovah that walked through the garden of Eden during the breezy part of the day, which was Enlil. Nor is this the same Jehovah that rested on the 7th day, being Ninhursag. Gary Edson in the book Shamanism states the following on page 199:

“The Jewish mystical tradition includes the original belief that Jehovah was an androgyny,..”

This was also touched on in the Atlantean Necronomicon.

Satan’s Avenger: Tiamat’s rule is very dependant on this Kutulu fire reactivating…So we need to know what the fire of the Earth is and how to awaken it; so this same fire can join and become one with the Abominations of the sky.

Warlock Asylum; Kutulu’s description as the “fire of the Earth” is symbolic. It is not literal. We know this based on a passage that appears in the Simon Necronomicon taken from the Maklu Text:

“I deliver you to GIRRA
 Lord of the Flames
Who sears, burns, enchains
Of whom even mighty KUTULU has fear!
May GIRRA, the Ever-burning One gives strength to my arms!”

I think the above passage clearly indicates that Kutulu’s description as the “fire of the Earth” is symbolic and can in no way be misinterpreted as an aspect of the Mesopotamian Gibil/Girra. The Atlantean Necronomicon states:

“Francois Lenormant makes an interesting observation, concerning Gibil, in his classic work, Chaldean Magic, where he states:

“He was worshipped principally in the flame of sacrifice, and therefore he was called “the supreme pontiff upon the face of the earth.” But this god was also recognized in the flame which burnt on the domestic hearth, and protected the house against evil influences and demons,…This god, who resided in the flame of sacrifice and in that of the hearth, was also the cosmic fire, distributed throughout nature, which was necessary to her existence, and which shone in the stars. Regarded in this light,  he was adored as the son of Ana,..” “

Satan’s Avenger: Upon channelling for this answer I was told by the Old Ones who I commune with:

“ The fire is the electric current which flows through the Earth’s ( planet’s ) core. The planet’s core is located under the sea ( of Absu in the inner Earth ) which is under the Seas ( our Oceans ). This same electricity is the same power behind all Magickal operations, the thing that places an electrical/magical charge on objects and moves our reality. This same magickal charge is what gives life to a being, and the missing thing which is required to make Tiamat WHOLE and all to be one again. We can worship this fire and offer it sacrifice – but we cannot summon it to rise. For those who do worship it – it will be your Salvation. ”

Warlock Asylum: Instead of “channeling” this information, you could have simply read the Introduction of the Simon Necronomicon:

S.H. HOOKE, in his excellent Middle Eastern Mythology, tells us that the Leviathan mentioned in JOB, and elsewhere in the Old Testament, is the Hebrew name given to the Serpent TIAMAT, and reveals that there was in existence either a cult, or scattered individuals, who worshipped or called up the Serpent of the Sea, or Abyss…..In both the European and Chinese cultures, the Dragon or Serpent is said to reside somewhere “below the earth”; it is a powerful force, a magickal force, which is identified with mastery over the created world; it is also a power that can be summoned by the few and not the many. However, in China, there did not seem to be a backlash of fear or resentment against this force as was known in Europe and Palestine, and the symbol of might and kingship in China is still the Dragon. In the West, the conjuration, cultivation, or worship of this Power was strenuously opposes with the advent of the Solar, Monotheistic religions and those who clung to the Old Ways were effectively extinguished. The wholesale slaughter of those called “Witches” during the Inquisition is an example of this, as well as the solemn and twisted – that is to say, purposeless and unenlightened – celibacy that the Church espoused. For the orgone of Wilhelm Reich is just as much Leviathan as the Kundalini of Tantrick adepts, and the Power raised by the Witches. It has always, at least in the past two thousand years, been associated with occultism and essentially with Rites of Evil Magick, or the Forbidden Magick, of the Enemy, and of Satan . . .. . . and the twisting, sacred Spiral formed by the Serpent of the Caduceus, and by the spinning of the galaxies, is also the same Leviathan as the Spiral of the biologists’ Code of Life : DNA

Satan’s Avenger: But in summoning this fire / Kutulu – we as humans have to die out, because we are at war in ourselves; because we as a species are unnatural…A Paradox here in that we have to die in order to have unity and be one. The only chance of life for us would be if we worship Kutulu and offer him sacrifice. But that is very different to summoning him. OTHERWISE – We cannot exist as living beings if we summon Kutulu – though many have tried.

Warlock Asylum: If you are referring to “death” as in transformation, that would be correct. However, if you are referring to a physical death, then the Simon Necronomicon disagrees with this statement:

And was not Man created from the blood of KINGU
Commander of the hordes of the Ancient Ones?
Does not man possess in his spirit
The sees of rebellion against the Elder Gods?
And the blood of Man is the Blood of Vengeance
And the blood of Man is the Spirit of Vengeance
And the Power of Man is the Power of the Ancient Ones…For, lo! The Elder Gods possess the Sign
By which the Powers of the Ancient Ones are turned back
But Man possesses the Sign
And the Number
And the Shape
To summon the Blood of his Parents.
And this is the Covenant.
Created by the Elder Gods
From the Blood of the Ancient Ones
Man is the Key by which
The Gate if IAK SAKKAK may be flung wide
 By which the Ancient Ones
 Seek their Vengeance
Upon the face of the Earth”

Satan’s Avenger: Kutulu’s rising to be as ONE, fundamentally depends on man’s being exterminated as an entire species. The Simon Necronomicon in THE URILIA TEXT also supports this reasoning if you read in between the lines, when it says of man’s world being UNNATURAL And a man may cry out, what have I don’t, and my generation that such evil shall befall me? And it mean nothing, save that a man, being born, is of sadness, for he is of the Blood of the Ancient Ones, but has the Spirit of the Elder Gods breathed into him. And
his body goes to the Ancient Ones, but his mind is turned towards the Elder Gods, and this is the War which shall be always fought, unto the last generation of man; for the World is unnatural. When the Great KUTULU rises up and greets the Stars, then the War will be over, and the World be One…Such is the Covenant of the Abominations and the End of this Text…Kutulu the fire of the Earth CANNOT be summoned – WHY – because the Covenant is in force! Simple!

Warlock Asylum: Kutulu’s rising is symbolic of a new age for those who have a wider view. However, it is also symbolic of the kundalini force rising up to the stars of the crown chakra. These are some of the points you have failed to take into consideration in your comments. The Simon Necronomicon’s introduction states:

“Indeed, the Hebrew word for Abyss that is found in GENESIS 1:2 is, Hooke tells us, tehom, which the majority of scholars take to be a survival of the name of the chaos-dragon TIAMAT or Leviathan that is identified closely with KUTULU or Cthulhu within the pages are mentioned independently of each other, indicating that somehow KUTULU is the male counterpart of TIAMAT, similar to ABSU.”

Gates of the Necronomicon, written by Simon, mentions on page 167, that the “Serpent” is Kundalini. Kundalini is often times, likened to a fiery energy and is very dangerous to raise, even a quick Google search on the matter would indicate this. This is why the Simon Necronomicon’s Introduction states:

“..it is a powerful force, a magickal force, which is identified with mastery over the created world; it is also a power that can be summoned by the few and not the many.”

Also mentioned in the Atlantean Necronomicon is that Kutulu is relative to the Watcher, as cited in the book’s excerpt:

While the Simon Necromicon mentions Nar Mattaru in various parts of the text, there are two passages specifically that reveal the work of Kutulu in the Necronomicon Tradition. Both of these passages can be found in the section entitled, THE CONJURATION OF THE WATCHER:

“And the Lord of the Watchers dwells, it is said, among the Wastes of the IGIGI, and only Watches and never raises the Sword or fights the idimmi, save when the Covenant is invoked by none less than the Elder Gods in their Council, like unto the Seven  Glorious APHKHALLU.”

Following this is the INVOCATION OF THE WATCHER where we read:

“Rise up, from the old Abyss of NARR MARRATU!”

Many of the qualities attributed to the Watcher in the Simon Necronomicon are possessed by Kutulu. A few examples of this can be seen in the following passages:

“I conjure Thee by…The Veils of Sunken Varloormi” (taken form the Normal Invocation of The Watcher as found on page 72 of the SN)

“KUTULU raises his head and stares up through the Veils of sunken Varloormi..,” (taken from the First Testimony of the Mad Arab found on page 15 of the SN)

“the Watcher appears. with eyes that never lose their stare.” (taken from the SN page 70)

“KUTULU raises his head.., up through the Abyss, and fixes his stare upon me” (taken from the SN page 15)

One of the first lines in the Normal Invocation of the Watcher as found on page 72 of the SN is:

“I conjur  Thee by the Fire of GIRRA”

I deliver you to GIRRA .., Lord of the Flames.., of whom even mighty KUTULU has fear! (taken from page 83 of the MAKLU TEXT as found in the SN)

“And  the Watcher sometimes appears..,aloft holding the Sword of Flames, and even the Elder Gods are awed thereby” (Taken from page 70 of the SN)

the corpse KUTULU shakes beneath the Earth, and our Master ENKI is sore afraid.” (taken form page 186 of the SN)

“And the Lord of the Watchers dwells, it is said among the wastes of the IGIGI…” (Taken from page 70 of the SN)

We can safely assume that Kutulu is the Watcher. The Mad Arab states that ‘the Lord of the Watchers dwells in the Wastes of the Igigi. The IigigiI are the azonei, also known as the realm of fixed stars. Lovecraft also describes the Old Ones as coming from the regions of Outer Space. The Mad Arab mentions that the Lord of the Watchers “never raises the Sword or fights the idimmi, save when the Covenant is invoked by none less than the Elder Gods in their Council, like unto the Seven Glorious APHKHALLU.”

Knowing that Kutulu is the Watcher, we can easily compare the following two passages from the Simon Necronomicon and this will confirm this:

“The third sign is the Sigil of the Watcher. It is called BANDAR. The Watcher is a Race sent by the Elder Ones. It keeps vigil while one sleeps, provided the appropriate ritual and sacrifice has been performed,: else, if called, it will turn upon you.”

And the times for the sacrifice are the same times as the Sleeping of MARDUK, for this is when Great KUTULU moves. And he is the very Fire of the Earth, and Power of All Magick.”

The “kulullu” dwelt in the Abyss. Enki, in some accounts, built his house above the Abyss. The Simon Necronomicon introduces “Kutulu” as the “man of the Underworld.” Every Mesopotamian deity had a shadow side and Namtar was Enki’s dark aspect. The Reader can find more info concerning this at the following link: http://warlockasyluminternationalnews.com/2010/06/15/excerpt-from-the-atlantean-necronomicon-kutulu/

Satan’s Avenger: This flawed reasoning is like saying two people by the name of JOHN, are actually the same person ! Common sense tells you they are not!

Warlock Asylum: I see no flawed reasoning in this. If I write a fictional story and the two main characters are named Moses and Aaron, though my depiction of them may be totatlly different than the Moses and Aaron of Biblical lure. People will still recognize my source of these two names comes from the Bible. It is the same for Kulullu and Dagon. Both are from ancient Mesopotamia. Now how Lovecraft used them in his fiction is his own business.

Satan’s Avenger: I also fail to see how you can connect the sealed book of Revelation as being the Necronomicon. You stated in your article..Next, we have prophecies concerning the Simon Necronomicon in the Biblical Book of Revelation Chapter Five:

“ 1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

This unnamed scroll is only interpretable by the Lamb of God, the predatory Lion of the Tribe of Judah – one, whose very shed blood is a violation of the Covenant and hence an abomination to the Old Ones. That blood drinking predator is Jesus!

Elsewhere in Revelation the scroll is described as – The Book of Life – which was handed down from the founding of the world – a very different document to the Neronomicon!

Warlock Asylum: That’s interesting. Donald K. Sharpes, in his legendary work, entitled; Lords of The Scrolls: Literary Traditions in the Bible and Gospels, states the following on page 130:

The phrase “the lamb of god” and similar symbols from Hebrew, Jewish and Christian traditions are Sumerian in origin.”

This means that since the expression “lamb of God” has a Sumerian origin. It pertains to a Sumerian rite. Yes the Simon Necronomicon is also the Book of Life. Let us compare a literary source with what is mentioned by the Mad Arab here:

“Thus, the Place, once chosen, shall be purified by supplications to thine particular God and Goddess, and by burning offerings of pine and cedar.”

Surprisingly, the following quote comes from a medical journal, written in 1906, entitled Medical Brief, page 831:

“The fact that the two Babylonian figures are clothed, naturally prevented me, also, from regarding the tree as the tree ‘of knowledge of good and evil.’ It seems to me at least probable that there may be traced in the biblical narrative in Gen, chap. 11 sq., another and older form which recognized but one tree in the middle of the garden-the Tree of Life….In regard to the tree, and that alone, I agree with the late C.P. Tiele when he sees in the Babylonian representation “a God with his male and female worshippers partaking of the fruit of the tree of life, “a picture of the hope of immortality,” as also with Hommel, who observes (p. 23): “The most important point is that it is quite evident that the tree was originally thought of as a conifer—a pine or cedar—whose fruit increased the power of life, and of procreation; there is accordingly an unmistakable allusion to the holy cedar of Eridu, the typical tree of Paradise in the Chaldean and Babylonian legends.”

I think it would be a good time to discuss the meaning of the Necronomicon Tradition

First, the Necronomicon Tradition is not a man-made religion, nor will it ever be. Initiation into this tradition means acceptance by the Jinn and not human application procedures or what have you. If a person decides to enter into this tradition, and does not meet the approval of the Jinn, all understanding, knowledge, and “miraculous” things will be withheld from them. It is true that a new Initiate is mentored in the proper forms of how to entreat the Jinn, but even this process ends when the Initiate has developed a relationship with the forces that are revered in the tome. Afterwards the Initiate is tutored by a “Watcher” directly.

It is written in the book:

“BUT KNOW THAT INANNA TAKES HER OWN FOR HER OWN, AND THAT ONCE CHOSEN BY HER NO MAN MAY TAKE ANOTHER BRIDE.”

The primary goal of the Gate-Walking initiation is to enable the true children of the Jinn to be able to commune with the primordial forces of Tiamat in love and in light. This is the whole intent of the Qliphotic Mysteries, also known as the Necronomicon Tradition. We are blessed with knowing the loving Mother Tiamat as she imparts certain “gifts” to her children, living among humanity, who have the primary responsibility of spreading goodness throughout the world.

Secondly, The Necronomicon Tradition is not limited to the Simon Necronomicon. The SN is just a template used to incorporate certain principles of how the ancient Cult of the Dead can be used today. Each and every Gate-Walker benefits mostly from conversations held with the Jinn, or the epiphanies received from the energies radiating from the planets and stars. Our membership dues are the monthly sacrifice. It is our existence. Everyone in the Gate-Walking community receive a monthly epiphany, which is the same amongst all the Gate-Walking Community.

Thirdly, The Necronomicon Tradition is not about “magic” in the Western sense, or power. It is about being and the unfolding recognition of love in oneself and his/her environment. This is the true magic.

It would appear that Satan’s Avenger is falling into the trap that fundamentalists of any stripe fall into: namely taking for literal what is meant to be metaphor & taking for metaphor what is meant to be literal. If it trips your trigger to be annihilated by some cosmic tentacled horror, then by all means stick with your interpretation, man; but if you want a deeper understanding behind the blinds & metaphors that are in place to keep the ignorant & the lazy from hurting themselves & others, then you have to dig a little deeper & actually work with the system instead of just kicking back & spouting from a point of limited understanding without any desire to do anything but argue.

  2. Satan's Avenger says:

Your comments, though interesting, are coming from a very different direction to mine. Let’s just agree to disagree.

    1. warlockasylum says:

You are correct. They are coming from a perspective of someone who is initiated into the system. stay blessed.

Holy Crap this was a good article! I’m surprised it took me this long to find!

I know there is some tension between Warlock & Satan’s Avenger, but damn when you two come together, the reader reaps all the rewards! LOL

“But Tiamat is also the Dragon Without, the fearsome force of Nature. The thunderstorms, the fire in the volcanoes, the ferocity of hurricanes and tornadoes, the destructive force of floods, the sudden terror of lightning – Tiamat wields all the powerful and ominous weather phenomena that have never been tamed by man. Her energy constitutes the magnetic field of the whole planet and flows through the mystical veins of the earth in the form of “dragon lines,” or “ley lines,” which are believed to connect the power spots (ancient vortices of cosmic energy) or “the chakras of the earth.” These vortices resonate with the Dragon energy, which can be tapped by the mind aligned with the Draconian Current, by those who have awakened the primal essence of the Dragon within their consciousness. Man is the Flesh and the Blood of the Dragon.”
