Evidence of the Simon Necronomicon's Influence on the Matrix

Greetings! i would like to extend a warm welcome to all who have taken the time to stop by our blog page. if this is your first time here, please review some of our previous material and comment freely. Stay Blessed!

The Matrix set a new standard in the world of cinema for a decade after its release in 1999. Since that time movie-goers have seen an entire market built around science fiction and occult subjects, which gave rise to the current rival of even comic-book lore being depicted in film. I had long discovered, quite some time ago, that most of the comic-book heroes were either descriptions of ancient gods, like Thor, or magicians who possessed certain occult knowledge, but posed in day-to-day society as newspaper reporters, entrepeneurs, and etc. Our readership may want to note how much comic-book drama is depicted with the full moon faded in the background. Our Gods Wear Spandex by Chris Knowles, is an excellent book that explores comic-book heroes and their connection with the occult world. This book also describes some of H.P. Lovecraft’s contribution to such.

Getting back to our present discussion, I recently had the opportunity of seeing the Matrix trilogy as a whole. It had been a while and I thought it might be a cool thing when your under the weather and confined to the house on a sunny day. It was an interesting experience to rewatch the trilogy since being initiated into the Necronomicon Tradition.

I now realize that the Matrix Trilogy can be compared to the three initiatory stages that are revealed by the Mad Arab in the Simon Necronomicon, which are mentioned in his First Testimony:

“Know, then, that I have trod all the Zones of the Gods, and also the places of the Azonei, and have descended unto the foul places of Death and Eternal Thirst, which may be reached through the Gate of GANZIR, which was built in UR, in the days before Babylon was.”

The Mad Arab reveals three aspect of initiation, which correspond to each film in the Matrix Trilogy:

1. Zones of the Gods = The Matrix

2. The Azonei, Igigi, Zodiac (Fixed Stars) = Matrix Reloaded

3. Ganzir, The Netherworld = Matrix Revolutions

“The passing of the Gates gives the priest both power and wisdom to use it. “

The first Matrix film dealt primarily with initiation. In a Wikipedia article, The Matrix, we read the following:

Computer programmer Thomas A. Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is secretly a hacker known by the alias “Neo.” He is restless, and driven to learn the meaning of cryptic references to “the Matrix” appearing on his computer. An infamous female hacker named Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), confirms that a man named Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), knows the answers he seeks; however, three sinister Agents, led by Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving), arrest Neo and attempt to discourage him from having any contact with Morpheus.”

Neo’s secret lifestyle as a computer hacker is an analogy for a black magician who poses as an ordinary man in day-to-day society. Since it seems that Neo is still uncertain about the meaning of reality, he may depict a chaos magician unaware of the inner workings and unseen laws of nature, commonly known as the occult. Readers may want to note that there is a scene in the movie where Neo is instructed to follow the “white rabbit.” White rabbits are celebrated in Easter festivals, which would connect the white rabbit to the mysteries of Din.Gir Ishtar. In the Simon Necronomicon we are told the following about Din.Gir Ishtar:

“BUT KNOW THAT INANNA TAKES HER OWN FOR HER OWN”

experienced Gate-Walkers are well aware that in order for one to be successfully initiated into the Necronomicon Tradition they must be chosen by Din.Gir Ishtar herself. This was the case with Neo in his role in the Matrix. In the Necronomicon Mysteries, the Initiate is provided with a Watcher that is to act as his/her guide. It is well-known in Babylonian spirituality that these spirit guides were known as the Sedu and the Lamassu. Paul-Alain Beaulieu in the book, The Pantheon Of Uruk During the Neo-Babylonian Period, page 137, sheds some insight on this custom:

“The sedu and lamassu spirits are usually portrayed as protectors of the individual worshiper….In the Old Babylonian hymn to Istar, with subscription for king Ammiditana, the sedu and lamassu spirits appear favorably at the casting of her eyes.”

Beaulieu, in the book’s footnotes, mentions that these two protective spirits, later evolved into statues of a warrior spirit and entu-priestess. These roles of both the lamassu and sedu correspond to the guidance that was given to Neo by Morpheus (sedu) and Trinity (lamassu).

Neo is initiated into the ways of Kutha, as he agrees to take the “red pill” that was given to him by Morpheus. Red is the color attributed to Din.Gir Nergal. His seat was in Kutha. The rites listed in the Simon Necronomicon are based primarily on Ishtar’s visit to Kutha.

Another correspondence comes in the whole idea of going in and out of the matrix. Gate-Walking works on a similar premise where the Initiate is able to enter a gate (constellation) that the Sun may or may not be in. Once initiated into the three aspects of the Necronomicon mysteries, the candidate can arrange or configure an experience. We also see other aspects of the Necronomicon Tradition in the Matrix movie. The Mad Arab mentions:

“This will not give thee power over the ABSU, however, this power being obtained differently by the Ritual of Descent. This Ritual thou wilt undertake in the fifteenth day after the thirteenth of the month when thou hast summoned the Gate of MARDUK to open. For MARDUK slew the Fiends, and INANNA, the Goddess of the Fifteen, conquered the Netherworld, where some of theirs still dwell. This is a most perilous Rite, and may be undertaken by any man who as the formulae, whether he has passes the previous Gates or not, save that it is best advised to have passed through MARDUK Gate before venturing forth into the Pit.”

The passage, cited above, is about the rite of descent. into the deeper realms of the Netherworld. This allows the Initiate an opportunity to overcome his/her inner demons. It also allow the Initiate to purge by a symbolic death. This rite occurs on the new moon and is performed between the spaces of Marduk and Adar. The Mad Arab continues:

“For this reason, few have ever opened the Gate of ADAR, and spoken to the Horned One who resideth there and giveth all manner of wisdom regarding the operations of necromancy, and of the spells that hasten unto death. Only when thou hast shown thy power over the Maskim and the Rabishu, mayest thou venture forth to the Land of the IGIGI, and for that reason was this Covenant made, that none shall safely Walk through the sunken valleys of the Dead before having ascended to MARDUK, nor shall they breach the Gates that lie beyond ADAR until they have seen the Signs of the Mad God and felt the fury of the hellish Queen.”

This “hellish Queen” that the Mad Arab is speaking about, would of course correspond to Queen Ereshkigal. Queen Ereshkigal is depicted as “The Oracle” in the Matrix movie. Soon after we find our character Neo entering Ganzir and must fight for his life, but not before he loses it to the like of Mister Smith, who corresponds to the Rabishu and the Maskim.

Trinity’s (Lamassu) kiss brings Neo back to life, and this is where we find the character in the Gate of Adar, or Ninib, as he is now awakened and able to battle negative agents face-to-face. Francois Lenormant, in the book Chaldean Magic, makes  the following observation about DinGir Adar, lord of the seventh gate, on pages 174-175:

”As a logical consequence from this point of view, also it was not only demons who were placed in the gloomy empire of Mul-ge; since amongst the protecting spirits we find mentioned  ” the male and female spirits, lords of the infernal regions.” The master of the lower abyss  had begotten, besides Namtar, one of the warrior gods whose special mission it was to combat demons, monsters, and plagues, like a true Hercules…This was Nin-dara, who was called also Uras, and was afterwards assimilated to the Chaldaio-Babylonian deity Adar,…Nindara was the nocturnal sun, the sun hidden in the lower world during half his course.”

“Know, seventhly, of the Things thou art to expect in the commission of this Most sacred Magick. Study the symbols well, and do not be afraid of any awful spectre that shall invade thine operation, or haunt thine habitat by day or by night. Only charge them with them the words of the Covenant and they will do as you ask, of thou be strong. And if thou performest these operations often, thou shalt see things becoming dark; and the Wanderers in their Spheres shall no more be seen by thee; and the Stars in their places will lose their Light, and the Moon, NANNA, by whom thou also workest, shall become black and extinguished,

AND ARATAGAR SHALL BE NO MORE, AND THE EARTH SHALL ABIDE NOT

And around thee shall appear the Flame, like Lightning flashing in all directions, and all things will appear amid thunders, and from the Cavities of the Earth will leap forth the ANNUNNAKI, Dog-Faced, and thou shalt bring them down.”

We will continue this topic in our next discussion. Stay Blessed!

This is interesting, now that i read this, you can see some necronomicon influence in the matrix! You know what there have been several movies with possible “necro” influence in them. It’s absolutely possible, afterall you can find the mass-market paperback in any good bookstore! I don’t know if it’s true or not but someone said the movie “The chronicales of Riddick” with Vin Diesel in it, was partly based upon the Necronomicon. There are a race of people in the movie called “necro-mongers”!! Of course that doesn’t mean it actually was based on the Simonomicon? This is worth some deep thought though.
I’ve been in possession of this book for 20 years & believe me the things i’ve experienced from using the text have been out of this world to say the least!! I was actually walking home from school one day when i was 14 & a stranger whom i’ve never met or seen stopped me & said “this is for you ” & handed me the hardcover edition with all the intricate design on it. I believe it is the second or third edition published way back either 1978 or 1980. At the time i had no clue what it was, nor have i ever heard of it! I started to look in the book & when i looked up to ask the man what the book was, he was gone!!! Just totally dissappeared!! I’m not kidding, this is a true event, That was my “initiation” into the tradition!!!
