The Meaning and Protocol for Initiation Into The Asaru Clan

Greetings! I would like to welcome everyone to Papers in the Attic, a newsletter for adherents of the Asaru culture. If this is your first time here, please feel free to review some of our previous articles and enjoy your stay.

I am very grateful for the recent post written by Brother Etluzini. It was a very informative post indeed and a much-needed aspect that will contribute greatly to our initiatory structure. It also revealed that the steps we are now taking are actually being guided by the DinGir. The experience that I had over the weekend will explain this more thoroughly.

I have been reciting the prayer To Every God, taken from The Oracle of Enheduanna, for the past several days. During this time, the DinGir have come to me in dreams. Let me say this before we continue further, whenever someone has an interaction with what they think is a DinGir, whatever is said or spoken about should be confirmed in history or a mythology. Otherwise, the Initiate may be deceived by ramblings of the mind and spirit. In any event, I was taken up in a dream by an emissary of the DinGir. We arrived at a meeting place where everyone had to memorize certain lessons and what have you. This, however, didn’t impress me at first. It was until last night that I began to understand the meaning of the dream on a deeper level.

Last night I was reading the Oracle of Enheduanna again before going to sleep. I was reading the section on the Seven Creation tablets, when the same spirit I saw in a dream a few nights earlier addressed me. It was then that truly understood another aspect of ancient Mesopotamian initiatory rites. It lies in memory. Later, when I turned on the computer and saw the post by Brother Etluzini, concerning the seven creation tablets, my epiphany was confirmed.

In order for a person to be considered to be an Initiate of the Greater Mysteries of Sumer the Seven Tablets of Creation must be memorized. When the Initiate has reached the seventh gate, they are still a candidate for initiation until all the steps of ritual have been memorized, all the incantations and etc. This means that in order for someone to be considered a priest or priestess in the Asaru culture.

A lot of the abilities that have been experienced on a minor level in the Asaru culture, such as telepathy, astral projection, and etc, cannot truly be mastered if one is not able to still the mind or focus. This is true also in the Asaru culture.

The adepts of remote antiquity used various methods in stilling the mind and increasing their ability of focus. The most known of these is memorization. The Simon Necronomicon mentions that this process of memorization is the “most potent magic.” It is for this reason that we find this ability attributed to priests of old in the book, Middle East, Western Asia, and Northern Africa, written by Ali Aldosari. We read the following on page 463:

“Priests [magi) of the state Zoroastrian religion memorized the sacred hymns and kept the rituals alive.”

The Return of the Serpents of Wisdom by Mark Amaru Pinkham, states the following on page 190 of the said work in reference to priests in ancient Mesopotamia:

“Before being ordained into the priesthood, the Baru diviners were required to undergo a long period of academic training. During this time they were expected to memorize all forms of divination including the interpretation of the lines on the livers and lungs of sacrificed animals, the symbolism of dreams, and the astrological interpretation of star and planetary positions. The Baru also learned to read the omens of nature and to recognize the appearance of certain animals or weather patterns which presaged specific future events. Then, once ordained, the Baru balanced his academic training with spiritual disciplines involving concentration and meditation. In this way he acquired the ability to psychically communicate with the Sun god Shamash who, from his high vantage point in the sky, knew all events on Earth, both past and future.”

Memorization was an essential part of being a priest or priestess in ancient Mesopotamian culture. What is interesting about Pibnkham’s work, which is cited above, is another observation that he makes prior to this:

“The rites and mantras practiced by these priests were believed to have been passed down by from King Enmenduranki,..”

Readers will note that members of the Asaru culture also trace their lineage to King Enmenduranki by way of En-hedu-ana, daughter of Sargon of Akkad. In the Book of Shamhat, as found in the Oracle of Enheduanna, we read:

“There is one who is coming, one who has the love of Holy Inanna upon him. He will heal the lands and you will give birth to a daughter by the might of his heart. And you must give her the name En-hedu-ana. She will praise Holy Inanna. Holy Inanna she will praise. She will restore the way of En-men-dur-ana.”

En-men-dur-ana is also known as Enmenduranki. Our responsibility, like the Baru and Kalu priests, is to memorize certain rites within our royal family. It is at this point that we too will be tested by the DinGir. Once we have called the Fire God and recited the required prayers and incantations before the Sun, it is then that we can say that we are priests and priestesses. Until this time, we are just Initiates. The quality placed on the process of memorization as an essential part of the Greater Mysteries is seen around the world. Mark Stavish noted how important this process of memorization was among Freemasons. In his book Freemasonry: Rituals, Symbols & History of the Secret Society, he writes:

“Masonic education has consisted of generous and impressive amounts of memorization,..”

I would like to reveal some of the structure in the Asaru culture, which goes as follows:

Asaru Initiate: The candidate has a working knowledge of the system and knows how to enter the realms through ritual. This also means that the candidate has ascended into the realms.

Asaru Priest/Priestess: The Initiate remembers all the incantations that are used to enter the realms and perform a basic calling to the DinGir. They would also have thorough knowledge regarding the Asaru language.

Asaru Elder: Has memory of all incantations used to open the realms and perform a basic calling to the DinGir. Has walked the realms, and has memorized The Seven Creation Tablets. He/She is fluent in the Asaru practices.

Asaru Immortal: Is able to travel out of body by use of the Asaru language and its concepts. Is thoroughly trained in such. Is able to translate words and sentences into Asaru by thought.

Asaru Warrior/Warrioress: Can walk into the dreams of others. Has obtained a consciousness that is forever between worlds and is no longer a slave to magic or meditation
