Prophet Noble Drew Ali: The Mad Arab
Over the past few years, some members of the Moorish American community have taken a vested interest in the workings of The Necronomicon by Simon. This may be the case partially because the Simon Necronomicon is a grimoire of ancient Mesopotamian magic, and the Moorish American legacy finds its origin in such traditions. According to The Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, we read:
“The key of civilization was and is in the hands of the Asiatic nations. The Moorish, who were ancient Moabites, and the founders of the Holy City of Mecca.”
“The Thorndike Bernhart dictionary (1979) makes a direct connection between Moor and “Moab.” It states that “Moor” comes from “Moabites of the biblical Moab – son of Lot.”
Pimienta-Bey’s work gives a detailed history of Moors in the United States and abroad. However, the ancestry of the Moors lends itself to the Hittites and Amorites also. In The Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple, we read:
“The Moabites from the land of Moab who received permission from the Pharaohs of Egypt to settle and inhabit North-West Africa; they were the founders and are the true possessors of the present Moroccan Empire. With their Canaanite, Hittite, and Amorite bretheren who sojourned from the land of Canaan seeking new homes.
Their dominion and inhabitation extended from North-East and South-West Africa, across great Atlantis even unto the present North, South, and Central America and also Mexico and the Atlantis Islands; before the great earthquake, which caused the great Atlantic Ocean.”
Evidence of the Moors inhabiting a Pre-Columbian America is explained in Horace Butler’s book, When Rocks Cry Out. The Amorites, under the nation of Moab, are cited in other sources as the ancestors of the historical Moors also. In an online version of The Encyclopedia of Creation Science, we read:
“After the Indo-European Hittites from Anatolia invaded their land, many of the dark-skinned Hamitic Amorites moved westwards in North Africa, becoming known as “Moors” named after Amor. The Moors’ tradition have them descending from a certain Tidrarin which means “man of the mountain”. Others stayed behind in the Middle East, intermarrying with some of the Hittites. As Robert Gayre says, indications are that the Amorites split into two sections.”
Earlier in its essay about the Amorites, we discover that they not only occupied Babylon, but were also the founders of the Shinto religion:
“They lived around Hebron, where they allied with Abraham (Genesis 14:13). They also lived around Shechem (Genesis 48:22). Later, they settled the land on the east bank along the Arnon River, near Moab (Numbers 21:13). …As the Nethinim they were eventually attacked by King Saul the Benjaminite and had to escape to join their Sinitic cousins in Tibet. Under their influence, their Sinitic cousins produced the first sovereign Emperor of China Jin Shi Hwang whose followers were exiled to Japan following his demise, to bring about the origins of Shinto religion. They were also responsible for establishing the basics of Sinitic religion, calendar, and stories providing the logic behind many Sinitic pictograms. The Sapanpe of the Ainu comes from the Tefilin worn on the head by orthodox Jews. They gave their name to the Amur river. The cultural stigma of untouchability was attached to Canaanites (Haplogroup D) by the Jews, Hindus, and Japanese……
The Amorites were a wild people, not concerned with the things of civilization, be they houses, towns, grain or government. In the Akkadian language, the name “Amorite” (pl. Amurrūm) was used to refer to Syria–Palestine, before being superseded by the name “Hittite“…….
The Biblical term Amorite was applied to those descendants of Canaan who resided in a portion of the territory known to the people of the Euphrates basin as Amurru (Sumerian: 𒈥𒌅, MAR.TU, “the land to the West”) many centuries before the Israelites entered the Promised Land. But the term Amurru was not used consistently, for a Hebrew resident of Palestine might be called either a Canaanite or an Amorite by a dweller in ancient Babylonia[1], for usage varied with time.”
The fact that the Amorites were the ancestors of the Moors brings us back to the Necronomicon by Simon. The Mad Arab, writes about an Amorite in the Simon Necronomicon, named Abdul Ben Martu:
“Remember not to make the sacrifice either too large or too small, for if it is too small, the demon will not come or, if coming, will be angered with thee so that it will not speak, even when charged, for that is the Covenant. And if it be too large, it will grow too large and too fast and will become difficult to control. And one such demon was raised by that Priest of Jerusalem, ABDUL BEN-MARTU, and was fed extensively on the sheep of the flocks of Palestine, whereupon it grew to frightening proportion and eventually devoured him. But that was madness, for Ben-Martu worshipped the Old Ones, which is unlawful, as it is written.”
“The Amorites were a Semitic people who seem to have emerged from western Mesopotamia (modern-day Syria) at some point prior to the 3rd millennium BCE. In Sumerian they were known as the Martu or the Tidnum (in the Ur III Period), in Akkadian by the name of Amurru, and in Egypt as Amar, all of which mean ‘westerners’ or ‘those of the west’, as does the Hebrew name Amorite.”
The Necronmicon by Simon is a Moorish Masonic Text
In the introductory notes of the Necronomicon by Simon, we read the following concerning the text itself:
“These were the sorcerer’s handbooks, and generally not meant as textbooks or encyclopedias of ceremonial magick. In other words, the sorcerer or magician is supposed to be in possession of the requisite knowledge and training with which to carry out a complex magickal ritual, just as a cook is expected to be able to master the scrambling of eggs before he conjures an “eggs Benedict”; the grimoires, or Black Books, were simply variations on a theme, like cookbooks, different records of what previous magicians had done, the spirits they had contacted, and the successes they had. The magicians who now read these works are expected to be able to select the wheat from the chaff, in much the same fashion as an alchemist discerning the deliberate errors in a treatise on his subject.”
This requisite knowledge spoken of is Moorish Science. How could it be otherwise when the text is narrated by the “Mad Arab?” Before we go any further, I must say for those not educated in the modern mechanics of Moorish Science, the movement is divided up into two sections, of which the Simon Necronomicon may be the bridge. First we have those that follow the admonition of Noble Drew Ali and are registered members of The Moorish Science Temple of America Inc. (The Elder Gods). They are “law-abiding citizens” of the United States, only seeking to expand on their knowledge of self and advance their community. Secondly, we have Moors, who are inspired by the works of Charles Mosley Bey. C. M. Bey, as he is popularly known, developed a masonic lineage that such organizations like the Clock of Destiny and the Great Seal of National Moorish Affairs (The Ancient Ones). C. M. Bey’s students claim that they are not under the jurisdiction by treaty of the “Union States Society.” We also have a third part of the movement called The Moorish Orthodox Church of America, derived from the countercultural hippie community and beatniks.
The Simon Necronomicon leads the true Moorish Scientist into what is known in some schools of thought a secret order of Jinn-inspired mechanics, somewhat of a hidden lodge. According to Clock of Destiny, volumes one and two, authored by C. M. Bey, the heart of Moorish Science finds itself as mathematic, the Science of Geometry, and the 12 signs of the Zodiac. The term, Necronomicon, possesses the same gematric value as Master Mason.

In the First Testimony of the Mad Arab we read:
“THIS IS THE TESTIMONY of all that I have seen, and all that I have learned, in those years that I have possessed the Three Seals of MASSHU. I have seen One Thousand-and-One moons, and surely this is enough for the span of a man’s life, though it is said the Prophets lived much longer.”
The term “One Thousand-and-One moons” seems to be a metaphor describing the Mad Arab’s length of years since his/her discovering and initiation into the Necronomicon Tradition. We can determine such based on another passage found in the First Testimony:
“But now, after One Thousand-and-One moons of the journey, the Maskim nip at my heels, the Rabishu pull at my hair,”
If we were to calculate the amount of time One Thousand and One moons is in years, we can understand the strength of the Necronomicon tradition itself. There are thirteen moons in one year. 1,001 divided by 13 equals 77. The number 77 is also the same some as the term, of which many Moorish Americans identify themselves as, and that being Moslem (M(13) + o(15) + s(19) + l(12) + e(5) + m(13) = 77). In the Clock of Destiny, volume one, a Moslem is defined as:
“Thus, (woman) is the Grand Master Architect and Carpenter of the human body and mind, which makes us all ones (Moslems) to the shade of skin and color of the eyes.”
In the Clock of Destiny, volume II, C. M. Bey, writes:
“Allah means the Moorish woman, who is the Mother of modern humanity, male and female of all different shades of skin and colors.”
The Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple, as it was prepared by Prophet Noble Drew Ali, states:
“Man is a thought of Allah; all thoughts of Allah are infinite; they are not measured up by time, for things that are concerned with time, begin and end.
“The thoughts of Allah are the everlasting of the past unto the never ending days to come. And so is man, the spirit-man.
“But man like every other thought of Allah, was but a seed, a seed that held within itself the potencies of Allah, just as the seed of any plant of earth holds deep within itself the attributes of every part of that especial plant.
“So spirit-man, as seed of Allah held deep within himself the attributes of every part of God.
“Now, seed are perfect, yea, as perfect as the source from which they come; but they are not unfolded into life made manifest. The child is as perfect as the mother is. So man, the seed, must be deep planted in a soil that he might grow, unfold, as does the bud unfold to show the flower. The human seed that came forth from the heart of Allah was full ordained to be the Lord of plane of soul, and of the plane of things made manifest. So Allah, the husbandman of every thing that is, threw forth this human seed into the soil of soul; it grew apace, and man became a living soul; and he became the Lord of all the kingdom of the soul. Hark, now, let every creature hear, the plane of soul is but the ether of the spirit plane vibrating not so fast, and in the slower rhythm of this plane the essences of life are manifest; the perfumes and the odors, the true sensations and the all of love are manifest.”
In traditional Islam, Allah is said to have 99 names, which “coincidentally” are the sum of the numerical values assigned to the seven major planets that were known to the ancient Chaldeans. Another reason why many members of the Islamic community are converting over to the Necronomicon Tradition, has a lot to do with the 99 Names of Allah. The 99 names of Allah are of Babylonian origin. The major gods of the Babylonian/ Assyrian pantheon were Nanna, Nebo, Ishtar, Shamash, Nergal, Marduk, and Adar, which were all associated with the seven philosophical planets. The numbers associated with these deities, is as follows:
Nanna (30), Nebo (12), Ishtar (15), Shamash (20), Nergal (8), Marduk (10), and Adar (4) were the major gods of the Babylonian pantheon. The numeric system of the Babylonians and their planetary deities is widely available in print. When you add the numbers of these 7 major deities, you get the sum of 99. Koran Questions for Moorish Americans, state:
97. Who is Elohim? Elohim is the Seven Creative Spirits that created everything that ever was, is, and evermore be.
98. What is Elohim sometimes called? The SEVEN EYES of ALLAH.
The seven gates of initation, are the seven rulting deities of ancient Chaldea and Babylon. Say tuned for part two of this essay.
