Ahuna Mons keeps it 100% original with a specific brand of electronica that music authorities often have a hard time classifying. His new album titled People Look Like People has done well in expanding Ahuna Mons cult following. Recently, I had the honor of speaking with the urban legend about his music and philosophy. Enjoy!

Warlock Asylum: I would first like to say thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions. So let’s begin by asking, who is Ahuna Mons?

Ahuna Mons: Ahuna Mons is a one-man project.

Warlock Asylum: How did your interest in music begin?

Ahuna Mons: I was born with it.

Warlock Asylum: After listening to some of your music, I was reminded of Sun Ra. Can you list some of your musical influences?

Ahuna Mons: Pink Floyd, Eloy, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream.

Warlock Asylum: Your sound seems to be a culmination of several genres and possesses a transcendental quality. How do you classify your music?

Ahuna Mons: I call it Abstract Electronic. I am still working on the sound.

Warlock Asylum: Tell us a little bit about your new album, People Look Like People. How did this smorgasbord of sound come about?

Ahuna Mons: I like to experiment with sounds, melodies, rhythm, etc. I have a huge collection of my own sounds/presets.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the concepts behind the album?

Ahuna Mons: An individual left behind by society. Not necessarily a tragedy from his point of view. I was going to name it People Are People but there was song with this name already. Depeche Mode beat me to it.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the obstacles you had to overcome, if any, in order to make this album possible?

Ahuna Mons: Time. Creating music is time-consuming. Sometimes I might spent hours and nothing comes to mind. The main thing with this album or any other is to stay original. Avoiding reproduction or clone. It is very important for me not to imitate or copy someone else’s work.

Warlock Asylum: What can we expect to hear from Ahuna Mons in the future? Any projects underway?

Ahuna Mons: Right now I am working on couple new projects. Hopefully I will release them soon…Thank you.

Thanks Ahuna Mons for sharing some of your insights about life and music with us. Wishing you all the best in your cosmic and musical endeavors!
