Does The Hood Owe KRS-One an apology?

Why Does The Hood Owe KRS-One An Apology Since The Colin Kaepernick Nike Deal?

If you are old enough to remember when rap music was the internet, then you should remember the 1995 KRS-One Nike commercial and his recital of Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”. It would prove to be the only KRS-One action that the hood vetoed. Fast forward twenty-plus years later, and these same hoods are now applauding a quarterback for turning KRS-One into a prophet! What Happened? For starters, the bigotry of America continues to promote this idea that Colin Kaepernick is the millennial version of O. J. Simpson just in time for Halloween. From running back to quarterback, fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you! Race relations in America is like the Crip Walk. It’s not a dance that everyone can do!

America is still trying to get black folk to just go along with the program. In 2018, the voting rights act is not a law. It’s an act! Everything around us is about entertainment, even in our forms of protest. Yet, the characters are still the same. Still, the lines of racial tension are drawn just like they were in Martin Luther King’s day. But, just go along with the program. We have a lot more freedoms than in other countries and our death toll is higher. Go along with it! America is the greatest nation on earth! Yet, some say it’s a Christian nation while forgetting that such outcries are reminiscent of what the architects and builders said when constructing the Tower of Babel, “let us make a name for ourselves.” America you have done just that in the state of confusion. Twenty years later, KRS-One still deserves an apology!
