Warlock Asylum Interviews Computer Scientist Leona-Valeria Vatulia: The Emergence of AI

There are so many benefits from mankind’s advancements in the field of technology. How we live our lives today and every communication we make with family members and friends is usually preceded by communication through some form of technology, be it a computer or cell phone. Since our future of human society is in the hands of technology, we can thus look at experts in the field as a part of the nations’ leadership. Certainly, the work of Leona-Valeria Vatulia constitutes her as one of the leaders in IT.

Vatulia’s work in the field of technology and her practical vision as an entrepreneur has given her a great amount of wisdom in the current of life and how to succeed in accomplishing your goals. I found our talks to be highly-beneficial and productive in helping me reach my goals.  Leona-Valeria Vatulia is a great source of inspiration and I think you will find her words to be a great aide in your own growth and development.

Warlock Asylum: Before we begin, I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions and share some of your life perspective and wisdom with us. However, for some of our readers who may not be familiar with your work, please introduce yourself. Who is Leona-Valeria Vatulia? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Me, I am a working bee of IT crazy world. So being an entrepreneur of dramatically changing tech practices I constantly have to learn new innovative fields adapting to new technologies. I’m a computer scientist and co-founder of FieldsFlow based in the state of California.  Always asking questions when these are unanswered and I seek resources to answer them myself and constantly growing my knowledge. At the same time, I enjoy sharing my ideas and experiences with others. 

In a few words, I am a creative person and love thinking out of the box. According to my lifestyle, I often meet individuals who are looking for the right solutions. My ability as an entrepreneur is to understand the main market and interests to present options enterprises most individuals never knew existed. It opens up a new horizon. I work with the intent of making the futures of companies and to navigate them into a smarter world. I hope it will be beneficial for all of us.

Warlock Asylum: Can you tell us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to get into computer technology? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: I started FieldsFlow out of a passion for AI optimization and constraint programming. At the same time, I was working as a senior project manager for Web Design Sun by day, and I spent my nights and weekends starting and growing my startup idea. I learned everything I could about AI from models to analytics and through all of that, I realized that there weren’t any companies that focused on helping other companies succeed. 

When I was a student, I loved to take on challenging assignments even if this meant burning the midnight oil for months and studying a lot. I have a few degrees in Development and Business Management. Experienced with all stages of the development cycle for dynamic projects with full-stack coding experience. My first-degree project was my first success. I won an award and my project been implemented in a national bank, then in the local banks. Second-degree project for optimization of transportation in the city led by satellite analytics and GIS technologies I made being at the same time as a team lead of developers in the IT department of Municipal Academy. Obviously, it is hard overloading but being able to study and use your knowledge on practice helped a lot in growing professionally much faster. It was a crazy rally! A very interesting experience I got on my program for IT project management. It’s all related and I feel more confident in making the right decision for my company.

In general, I’ve been working in the IT world for nearly 13 years. Just this past year, I contributed a significant impact on AI business optimization in the dropship industry and field service management. I’m willing to work hard to improve my skills at the largest and most innovative models in automotive systems.

I have completed Google and Microsoft certifications. During this time, managing so many problems at the same time did put a lot of stress on my life. I always wanted to make people’s lives easier and now we have so big opportunity using AI and machine learning.

Warlock Asylum: What were some of the obstacles you had to overcome in order to make your career in technology possible? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Field service management companies are often dependent on time management and marketing tools to engage with their customers. Many of them have started incorporating new tools. Not every AI is the same, and when you want to deliver consistent, seamless experiences across touchpoints – we’re now seeing different AIs delivering different parts of that journey which can introduce inconsistent results from one step to the next. We can use AI to optimize your appointment with the weather, worktype, skills, branch, and etc. AI baked in to optimize the solution to provide models of business. But each solution is different. It can lead to many different AIs influencing the customer journey instead of one common shared solution. This makes a strong case for dispatcher platforms that centralize delivery leveraging one AI engine to power the experience across a number of cases. Each business has its own model and rules. It’s a big challenge, right?

We’re all facing obstacles in our lives. If everything would be so easy, everyone would do it but there are always solutions in our life path. We just need to look around and concentrate on it.  I am a very positive and practical person. Definitely, the one to fill a glass of water when there is a debate on whether it is half empty or half full. This means, I spend a lot of time representing and thinking about an issue and instead, try to find solutions. Business can lose a lot of money because of a bad decision. It is better to stay away from the chaos, spend time to concentrate on the problem, write your ideas on a list.  Maybe they will not be implemented, but it will put you on path solver the problems.  

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the things that you have learned and accomplished since entering IT? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Being so many years in IT it’s easy to observe and compare how far we came in progress. I’m sure new technologies is our big opportunity but we have to use it in the right and proper way. When we investigate the global problems we will be able to solve it with IT. It’s our weapon. Nowadays there is so big jump into technologies and looks like nothing is unsolvable. There is always a way and we just need to look properly. 

Warlock Asylum: I would like to congratulate you on your work as an entrepreneur. Can you tell us a little bit about your business and what products and services do you feature? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: FieldsFlow is a cloud SAAS based on AI optimization. AI helps us make sense of business optimization and enables us to deliver better service and results for clients. Intelligent optimization in business is changing the benefit for enterprises accomplishing field service operations – including large performance and productivity in higher stages of customer satisfaction.

For example, through AI practices such as right-in-time scheduling appointments, weather optimization, skills, etc… field service organizations can guarantee the correct resources are always prompt available exactly when we need them – which significantly boosts productivity. Performance growth is likewise obtained by field service dispatchers and technicians handing off rote, recurrent tasks to intelligent automation process – enabling workers to spend their time focusing on complicated, more nuanced complex customer escalations. Resolving those issues and escalations is one of the majority impactful ways a field service organization can testify value to its customers. We enable our users to use our field service management cloud system. By using the app, our customers can get services delivered to them. Moreover, they can even save their lives by urgent appointment because in danger our system will locate the closest technician to help. Our goal is not just to optimize resources properly but also help a user to get better service easier than ever before.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the life lessons you have learned since being in business? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: You can learn everything if you are open-minded. It’s a reality. It’s all about how hard you will work and how bad you want to become successful.

Business is a collaboration. Your success is waiting for the right time until you really want it. You’ll get it one day by working smarter and harder than everyone else. Never good things happen by itself. To get something in life we have to go for it and fight for it. It’ll never just fall from the sky. “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”

You can try to force yourself to work out of your comfort zone. This opens up a whole new world of opportunities. Think about all the amazing achievements that humans have accomplished. The power of the mind controls everything. Our mind controls something as simple as being open to change and new things. All of these are required if you’re dedicated to your success. Being an entrepreneur you learn a lot. You can not filter it out. It’s combined with your experience to see the bigger picture. Sometimes you make mistakes but there is no progress without movement. 

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the goals that you have set for the business to achieve? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Right now we want to be a major company specialized in AI optimization for the field service management. It will be our goal number 1. With time we will improve the product and let’s see what new decade will bring to us in AI word. I believe strongly in a step-by-step achievement and the result. In the field of IT, the harmony of planning and execution is crucial. And I maintain this harmony with great care and effort, making rapid changes to stay focused on the goal.



 

Warlock Asylum: How has your career affected your personal relationship with family and friends? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: This is a very tough question. Sometimes I ask myself why we have just 24 hours per day. Of course, it is very difficult in the absence of time. Sometimes we have time together watching a movie or having dinner, I’m working almost all the time on the project but I attempted to spend all my free time with family and friends. I’m not addicted to social networks. Looking back at the crazy time when I had a few weeks working without even going outside I understand the problem completely and I’m working on it to change my timetable because there is nothing more important than family.

Warlock Asylum: AI has been in the news of recent and it’s becoming a huge part of everyday life. How do you feel about AI and how does it affect your business? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: We are also getting advanced from time changing and tends to always adapt according to the recent advancements. There are many people who use advanced technology in their daily work. At present times, we can use artificial intelligence and can do a different number of tasks just by using voice commands. This helps us by easing out the different types of input commands that we need to process earlier for any task to be done. There are many benefits that you can get from using Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial intelligence can help you in doing different types of work for you. You can set an alarm or play songs on your Smartphone just by using your voice command. There are millions of people who are using advanced technology in their daily life activities. It can also help you in finding your desired location by showing you different routes and letting you take the shortest route possible.

The artificial intelligence is used to get an accurate result. When we use computerized technologies the chance of errors is reduced as compared to human errors. Whereas, if you teach a person, he could take a long time to understand the process and which can cost you a lot of time. 

SaaS-based on AI is literally on fire in the future of data analytics. You have to love AI and leverage it for lots of things, including operational efficiencies, client servicing, and data analysis. SaaS architecture enables data to become real-time and to become useful. It is immediately applicable to real business conditions – FieldsFlow is intentionally designed to do that.



Warlock Asylum: What are some areas and ways that you seek to expand your business? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: A business can’t stay on the same level – It has to grow. Even to maintain its current level of success. There is a plan for sustainable future growth to keep up with the economy and demographic trends in the coming years.  But the company its not just a name – the company is people. That’s why we have a strict plan for growing our company and open positions. We look for people who are self-motivated and who are crazy enough to change the world with us. All planning about the product is already done and in the main scope for the future upgrade included the integration of modules for various industries, a multi-billing portal inside of our SAAS.

Warlock Asylum: Life seems like it is very busy for you. How do you find a balance in it all? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Using multitasking in a correct way to organize workflow by decomposition work. The must-do first. Then I focus on small tasks and I try to dedicate no more than a few minutes to each one when the list is too full. Once the must-dos and the small, one-minute tasks are gone, I have time to focus on long-term goals. The day definitely feels smoother checking items off my list each day. Focus on the goal and be it lack of time or the inability to finish each task with undivided focus, entrepreneurs end up facing more problems if they can’t multitask it right.

Warlock Asylum: What advice would you give to a person looking to establish their own business in technology? Any final thoughts? 

Leona-Valeria Vatulia: Always Believe in yourself, know yourself, feel your true motivational level. Before starting a business better to ask yourself if you are really ready for this. Are you willing to work hard and risk the amount of money to be successful? Of course, we all dream of running a successful business. But what must you give up to reach that goal? Do you spend enough time and energy on your plans for it? Are you willing to work out of your comfort zone?

To be successful, make a golden line between business plans and your personal and family life. Let your family be a part of your dream. Ask yourself about the market and your potential customers. One of the significant mistakes startups make is to suppose a lot of people will be crazy to buy a particular service because the business owner loves these special ideas or knows a few friends who want the product or service. Never underestimate a market and your competitors to minimize your risk for loss. Some people don’t move ahead with their startup until they have investigated every single detail on the market to be absolutely sure it’s all going to be profitable. The main problem with that approach is leading to procrastination. You cannot predict everything. No one ever really has all the pieces in the puzzle running their business.

The right solution is valuable at the right time. Sure, you need to investigate the market, have an elementary plan but if you would try to make everything perfect before you launch, you may never get around to starting the business at all. People believe that entrepreneurs are risk-takers. But in general, successful entrepreneurs don’t like walking blindfolded. Instead, they do best to control risks. Never stop learning and trying new things. Keep your eyes and ears open for new things. Make own road for your business! Nobody will bring it to you – you have to work hard for your dreams. Learn from your mistakes and never give up on your dream. Nothing great just happens by itself, So don’t sit and wait for it. Go ahead to your success.
