Dimi Jazzmon is an excellent example of a house music producer first-class. Jazzmon’s smooth demeanor and gentleman’s approach to house music production has set a new tone to a thriving genre that continues to reinvent itself. I recently gained knowledge of Jazzmon’s work in a recent review of his megasmash single Second Chance, which featured the poetic charms of spoken word artist Tantra Zawadi. I had the honor of chatting with his maestro and was able to gain some insights and wisdom from his creative process that I’m sure you will enjoy.

Warlock Asylum: Before we begin, I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions and share some details about your work in music. However, for some of our readers who may not be familiar with your person, please introduce yourself. Who is Dimi Jazzmon?

Dimi Jazzmon: You’re very welcome, Messiah, much appreciation from my side as well. Well, I’m a Deep House DJ and producer from the Netherlands and grew up in the inner city of Dordrecht with a deep passion for music from a very early age. As a DJ I’ve done guest shows for different radio stations in Europe and the US. By now I’ve released three 12-inch singles as a producer. All three are collaborations with the poet, spoken word artist, and friend Tantra Zawadi.

Warlock Asylum: How did you get involved in music, and more specifically, house music?

Dimi Jazzmon: In my urge to express myself, I became musically creative at age thirteen, taking relevant cuts from the record collection of my parents and copying them onto cassette tapes, a kind of improvised sampling technique with available tools. Soon after, I specialized in producing electronic music, learning a lot about musical history while searching countless records from any kind genre for interesting sounds to mix. Since 2015, I became active with house music deejaying and production. This began after befriending Greek djs, who took me into the nightlife of Athens. This experience gave me new insights into house music and the underground. It was so wonderful and inspiring, I went to work at once. My style is often described as Cool Deep House, mainly because of the “Cool Jazz” influence it exhibits.

Warlock Asylum: What were some of the obstacles that you had to overcome in order to make your career as a deejay/producer possible?

Dimi Jazzmon: Nowadays it’s very tough building a career as a deejay/producer. Equipment became affordable and accessible for most people. Of course, the good side of this development is the fact that many more very talented DJs and producers have access to the equipment and can take taking house music to a higher level. Money isn’t an issue anymore. I still have obstacles to overcome, as I’m one of countless new DJ/producers who work to establish their style and name in the scene.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the things that you enjoy about house music and having a part in producing tracks?

Dimi Jazzmon: Producing music is a great passion of mine. It is the art form I choose to express myself. I love the seemingly unlimited musical influences that can cooperate with house music’s beat. My inspiration seems endless and I have so many ideas I’d like to work out. It never gets boring.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the changes you have seen in the house music world in recent years, for better or worse?

Dimi Jazzmon: Well, I’m happy to say the house music world changed for the better. Personally, I feel the awareness of the roots of house music becoming more sensible and visible these days. The incorporation of 70’s disco, funk, soul, jazz, and even hip hop has become more present. This is, in fact, the reason why working with house music became so appealing to me.

Warlock Asylum: I got the opportunity of getting familiar with your work in a recent review of the track that you produced titled Second Chance, which featured spoken word artist Tantra Zawadi. Can you give us a little insight into how this track was developed your source of inspiration for creating it?

Dimi Jazzmon: The collaboration with Tantra I create special for her. I wanted to give Tantra the right setting for her magical flow of words. Creating music is the first phase and its originality is essential in our projects. In the case of Second Chance, I needed the beat and groove to sound sweeter, with a beach vibe into it. On the Disco inspired drumbeat, I developed a summary grooveline backed up with high synth and flute tones and funky background sounds. Tantra understood the vibe perfectly. The music itself did all the explaining and she began writing. Her great voice and telling the love-story with dramatic prose completed this piece. Many people who experienced the power and mysticism of summer love can relate to her message and voice.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the other projects that you have on the horizon?

Dimi Jazzmon: Within the end of this year an EP will be released which is entirely solo. It is my sound in its purest form and will be released by a beautiful record label. The title of the EP will be ‘Other Side Of Time’.

Warlock Asylum: What advice would you give to a newcomer that is interested in making a career in the music industry?

Dimi Jazzmon: Well, to all I can relate to, namely those who decide to be in it for the art instead of the cash. I can recommend: Know exactly how you want to sound, even before you officially start. That sound will be your soul communicating with the audience. And they will recognize you for it. Copycats don’t last very long. Your personal style and character will mark you as an artistic individual, just like your personality on the streets.

Warlock Asylum: What can we expect of Dimi Jazzmon in the next five years? Any final thoughts?

Dimi Jazzmon: At least I can say Dimi Jazzmon will still be in the picture in five years. Enjoying what he does. He won’t think of quitting. We’ll hear many new releases by him and will dance or chill to his sets on many spots. His sunset will not be on the horizon. I need it to say it’s been a real pleasure talking with you, Messiah. Peace and love to you and each and every one of your readers.

*Thanks once again Dimi Jazzmon for taking the time to answer a few questions and share some of your creative vibes with our readers today. On behalf of Warlock Asylum International News, I would like to wish you all the best.
