First, we must take into consideration that this Covenant was established in the remote past, possibly before man was created. This understanding comes what is written by the Mad Arab:
“It is the Sigil of the Covenant of the Elder Gods, and when they see it, they who gave it to us, they will not forget us. They have sworn!”
The words quoted above appear in the Mad Arab’s description of the AGGA Sign, but we are able to determine that his Covenant was established before the creation of man due to the next passage:
“The BANDAR, however, must never be used alone, but with one or both of the others, for the Watcher must needs be reminded of the Covenant it has sworn with the Elder Gods and our Race, else it will turn upon thee and slay thee and ravage thy town until succour is to be had from the Elder Gods by the tears of thy people and the wailing of thy women.”
It appears that this Covenant involved three parties; the Elder Gods, the watcher, and “our Race.” Many have assumed that the Mad Arab is referring to Mankind in general, when he speaks of our “race,” but a closer look at his words show something deeper, as he states in his First Testimony:
“Of the three carved symbols, the first is the sign of our Race from beyond the Stars, and is called ARRA in the tongue of the Scribe who taught it to me, an emissary of the Elder Ones. In the tongue of the eldest city of Babylon, it was UR. It is the Sigil of the Covenant of the Elder Gods, and when they see it, they who gave it to us, they will not forget us. They have sworn!”
The Mad Arab describes this race as being from “beyond the Stars.” This race is discussed thoroughly in the Magan Text, for it stats the following:
“WE ARE THE LOST ONES
From a Time before Time
From a Land beyond the Stars
From the Age when ANU walked the earth
In company of Bright Angels.
We have survived the first War
Between the Powers of the Gods
And have seen the wrath of the Ancient Ones
Dark Angels
Vent upon the Earth
WE ARE FROM A RACE BEYOND THE WANDERERS OF NIGHT.
We have survived the Age when ABSU ruled the Earth
And the Power destroyed out generations.
We have survived on tops of mountains
And beneath the feet of mountains
And have spoken with the Scorpions
In allegiance and were betrayed.
And TIAMAT has promised us nevermore to attack
With water and with wind.
But the Gods are forgetful.

In this passage we discover that this “race” existed when Anu walked the Earth and survived the age when Absu ruled the Earth. It also mentions that this “race” was from a place that was “beyond the Stars.” What does all of this mean?
Well for one, we see that this ” race” was betrayed by the “scorpion” and were betrayed. it also reveals in this passage that Tiamat made a promise to this “race” to never attack with “water and wind.” These thing s gives us a good foundation as to discovering who this “race” really is. There is an ancient text that may help us understand who this “race” is a little better-The Book of Enoch.
The Book of Enoch describes the descent of the Watchers and how the taught men the sacred occult arts, or the things of heaven. It is in the Book of Enoch that we read the following about the Watcher who descended from Heaven:
“And He answered and said to me, and I heard His voice: ‘Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice. And go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who have sent thee to intercede for them: “You should intercede” for men, and not men for you: Wherefore have ye left the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons? And though ye were holy, spiritual, living the eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh, and, as the children of men, have lusted after flesh and blood as those also do who die 5 and perish. Therefore have I given them wives also that they might impregnate them, and beget children by them, that thus nothing might be wanting to them on earth. But you were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them.”
This part of the Book of Enoch seems to be very relevent to what we have just cited in the Magan Text, especially when we compare what follows in both the Magan Text and the Book of Enoch:
XXI. Preliminary and final Place of Punishment of the fallen Angels (stars).
“And I proceeded to where things were chaotic. And I saw there something horrible: I saw neither a heaven above nor a firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible. And there I saw seven stars of the heaven bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire. Then I said: ‘For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they been cast in hither?’ Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said: ‘Enoch, why dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the truth? These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here till ten thousand years, the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.’ And from thence I went to another place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being full of great descending columns of fire: neither its extent or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture. Then I said: ‘How fearful is the place and how terrible to look upon!’ Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: ‘Enoch, why hast thou such fear and affright?’ And I answered: ‘Because of this fearful place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.’ And he said unto me: ‘This place is the prison of the angels, and here they will be imprisoned for ever.'”
This passage compares greatly to what we find in the Simon Necronomicon’s Magan Text: “He who awakens Him calls the ancientVengeance of the Elder Ones
The Seven Glorious Gods
of the Seven Glorious Cities
Upon himself and upon the World
And old vengeance . .”
The Book of Enoch alludes to the idea that these fallen angels, or Watchers were kept locked in a fiery realm, which may suggest that they were to beknown in later traditions, such as Islam, as the Jinn. This relates also to what is mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon’s Book of Calling:
“This is the Book of the Seven Demons of the Ignited Spheres, of the Seven Demons of the Flame.
This is the Book of the Priest, who governeth the Works of Fire!”
Now there are a couple of things that we have to consider in all of this is that the views of the Book of Enoch, and other sources are promote the philosophy that human being were such innocent creatures and that they were tricked into giving way to “sinful” tendencies based on the influence of external “evil” forces, but a close examination of both sides of the story may reveal something totally different. evidence of this can be seen when we observe facts that indicate that the “Chaldean Covenant” existed before the creation of human beings. The British Edda by L.A. Waddell stats the following in its Introduction:
“Indeed, the selfsame confusion occurs also in the Egyptian myth, wherein the Semitic priests of the Nile Valley degraded the original pure Sun-worship of Asar or “Osiris” (the Sumerian Asari title of King Dur or Tur) by deliberately introducing into it the Serpent and animal sacrificial cult of their own debased aboriginal Egyptian Mother-Son creed, which was essentially similar to the pre-Adamite Chaldean.”
Here we can see a clear sign of the “pre-Adamite Chaldean,” and based on Waddell’s writings, these Chaldeans were involved in some primordial worship of the “Serpent.” This same form of worship is described in the Simon Necronomicon’s Introduction:
“Therefore, the Goddess of the Witches has two distinct forms: the Ancient One, Goddess of the Dragon-like telluric Power which is raised in Magickal rituals, and the Elder Goddess, Defeater of Death, who brings the promise of Resurrection and Rejuvenation to her followers those who must reside for a time after death and between incarnations in what is called the “Summerland”.”
Although, it has been interpreted by some that the Simon Necronomicon is a book that promotes the idea of fighting against the “Ancient Ones, ” initiates of the Necronomicon Tradition learn the opposite, wherein the tome reveals and raises your potential as an “Ancient One.” The Simon Necronomicon’s Introduction mentions the following concerning worship of the Ancient Ones:
“In the West, the conjuration, cultivation, or worship of this Power was strenuously opposes with the advent of the Solar, Monotheistic religions and those who clung to the Old Ways were effectively extinguished. The wholesale slaughter of those called “Witches” during the Inquisition is an example of this, as well as the solemn and twisted – that is to say, purposeless and unenlightened – celibacy that the Church espoused. For the orgone of Wilhelm Reich is just as much Leviathan as the Kundalini of Tantrick adepts, and the Power raised by the Witches. It has always, at least in the past two thousand years, been associated with occultism and essentially with Rites of Evil Magick, or the Forbidden Magick, of the Enemy, and of Satan . .. . . and the twisting, sacred Spiral formed by the Serpent of the Caduceus, and by the spinning of the galaxies, is also the same Leviathan as the Spiral of the biologists’ Code of Life : DNA”

Based on what we covered so far, it seems that the “Race from beyond the Stars” refers primarily to the Watchers, described in the Book of Enoch. We should also consider the fact that the Simon Necronomicon mentions a time period where this Covenant exited in the remote past. we find this in the Magan Text’s Of the Sleep of ISHTAR. This account is NOT a basterdized version of Ishtar’s Descent Into the netherworld, but a text that was purposely altered to emphasise the initiation process of the “pre-Adamite Chaldean.” The text makes mention of the “Covenant” on several occasions:
“Go, Watcher of the Gate.
Go, NINNGHIZHIDDA, Watcher of the Gate,
Open the Door to ISHTAR
And treat Her as it is written
In the Ancient Covenant.”
The above words allude to the idea of the “Ancient Covenant” as having some association with the realm of the Underworld. This also mentioned in other parts of the Simon Necronomicon:
“Know, fourthly, that it is become the obligation of the Priests of the Flame and the Sword, and of all Magick, to bring their Power to the Underworld and keep it chained thereby, for the Underworld is surely the Gate Forgotten,.”
“I pray the Gods that I am saved, and not perish as did the Priest, ABDUL BEN-MARTU, in Jerusalem (the Gods remember and have mercy upon him!). My fate is no longer writ in the stars, for I have broken the Chaldean Covenant by seeking power over the Zonei. I have set foot on the moon, and the moon no longer has power over me. The lines of my life have been oblitered by my wanderings in the Waste, over the letters writ in the heavens by the gods.”
Many who are initiated into the Necronomicon Tradition are well aware that the Mad Arab spoke in a manner that seemed like he was against the workings of the primordial rites, when in fact he was a worker of them. Non-initiate of this Tradition can be helped to understand this by comparing his actions to the slaves who had to hide their worship of the Orishas by mixing it with Catholicism. So too, in the days of the Mad Arab, worship of some deities may have been offensive to others, and may have resulted in death. Thus, the Simon Necronomicon recognizes this paradigm as being realistic for the time that it is said that the Mad Arab wrote the Al-Azif.
Different than the Biblical and Enochian perspectives of why the Watchers descended to the reamls of human folk, we find the legends of Ishtar/Inanna relate to a deescent for purposes of initation. First, we must consider that the name Ishtar means star. Therefore, the Descent of Ishtar is relative to the descent of a “star,” or as cited earlier from the Book of Enoch:
“Preliminary and final Place of Punishment of the fallen Angels (stars).”
These “stars” were actually the Watchers of Enochian lore and we find that the epic tale of Ishtar descending into the Underworld illustrates metaphorically, the descent of the watchers. In older accounts of the epic, wherein we find the Sumerian Inanna the subject of the parable, she is said to give up a “me” or creative power at each of the seven gates. if we compare this with what is written in the Biblical book of Genesis Chapter 1, we find an outstanding similarity. It is amazing that in this Biblical tale, every creative day is aid to end with the terms “evening and morning,” even before this chapter deals with the creation of the Sun and Moon. What is also ironic, is that the word evening precedes morning throughout these Biblical passages. Ishtar was known to the ancient people of Mesopotamia as the evening and morning star. Her “evening” aspect was regarded as a creative time, and as the “morning” star, she was considered warlike. Thus, we find that the Biblical epic, as described in Genesis Chapter 1 deals with the descent of the Ishtar Class, or the Class of Watchers from beyond the Stars. It seems that this race was responsible for restoring Earth to its beautiful foundation, as revealed by the fact that when they assumed physical form they were instructed to “replenish the Earth.” Some time after making Earth their abode other deities from the same origin decided to make human beings and assigned the “descending Watchers” the task of keeping an eye out on them. They were attracted to them and began to take some as marriage mates, which may have not been a problem, but teaching them arts of divination may have been thus, we find these words in the Biblical account:
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. “
Now according to the teachings of Islam, the “serpent” would be none other than a symbolic description of the Jinn. The Jinn are said to predate the creation of Adam, which would mean that they would classify as “pre-Adamites.” They are also said to be made of a smokeless fire, similar to a “star.” They are sometimes called those of fire, and there are many pre-Islamic legends of the Jinn marrying Human beings and having children with them. A Dictionary of Islam by Thomas Patrick Hughes, B.D., M.R.A.S., states the following concerning the Jinn:
“The Jinn, it has been already shown, are peaceable. They also eat and drink, and propagate their species, sometimes in conjunction with human beings; in which latter case, the offspring partakes of the nature of both parents.”
Keeping all of this in mind, it seems to be no mystery to discover that in the Simon Necronomicon, the symbol of this “Race from Beyond the Stars<” is the following:

Thus, we find that the “Race from Beyond the Stars,” mentioned ever so often in the pages of the Simon Necronomicon is specifically, speaking about the Jinn and when the Initiate finds that they are, either of the progeny of the Jinn, or a Jinn who lost knowledge of themselves when taking possession of the human body, an event that is described metaphorically in Lovecraftian fiction as Cthulhu Dead, But Dreaming, they then have an opportunity to learn the customs and traditions of the Jinn, which has been known as the Black Brotherhood.
The Teachings of The Black Brotherhood
Before we proceed further into the Teachings of the Black Brotherhood, it is useful to illustrate that these teaching have been around for thousands of years. we find this phrase appearing several times in the Simon Necronomicon:
“..the secret text of some of the priests of a cult which is all that is left of the Old Faith that existed before Babylon was built,..”
We find that throughout human history there seems to be an underlining “cult” that were known amongst men, regardless of religion. For example, taking into consideration that Ishtar in her aspect as the “morning star” was considered be in her warlike nature, some may find also the words of Stephen Langdon in Tammuz and Ishtar, page 181 very interesting:
“Sumerian influence generally dominated, and the old Semitic deity survives only as a theological and fanciful epithet of the morning star which the commentaries tell us is a masculine form of Ishtar; the evening star is said to be the female Ishtar.”
Logically, it is very clear from Lagdon’s words that we find Jesus describing himself in the following words in Revelation Chapter 22: 16:
“I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star“
It is also ironic that in the Gospel account, Jesu is said to have spoken publicly in parables, but to his close disciples, he spoke of the deeper secrets of the kingdom. This Kingdom and the fate of mankind, he evidently spoke about in secret because it concerned the Kingdom of the Jinn. we find evidence of this by comparing the word of the Mad Arab with the Biblical description of God’s throne, as cited in the Book of Daniel:
“Remember the ARRA, especially when dealing with Them of Fire, for They respect it, and no other.”
Now let us look at Daniel Chapter 7: 9:
“I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.”
We also find this excerpt, stating the Islamic view of the Jinn’s destiny to be very interesting:

“In A Dictionary of Islam Jinn are said to have come the Earth ages before man existed. They were the first of Earth’s masters. They built huge cities whose ruins still stand in forgotten places. Aeons later many Jinn were forced to flee Earth while others were imprisoned. Still others roam desolate places to this day. The Jinn are said to be invisible to normal men. They are, however able to interbreed with humans but the human parent may suffer when the dark offspring is born (The Jinn will, according to legend survive mankind..”
So as mentioned in the Book of Enoch, the Jinn are the descended Watchers and are trapped in the Earthly realm and imprisoned in human bodies.
“..and that you will feel the subtle fluids of thy body moving to the breath of TIAMAT and the Blood of KINGU who races in your veins. Be ever watchful, therefore, not to open this Gate, or, if thou must needs, put a time for its closing before the rising of the Sun, and seal it at that time; for to leave it open is to be the agent of CHAOS.”
The reader may want to note that Tiamat is described in the Magan Text in these words:
“Know that our years are the years of War
And our days are measured as battles
And every hour is a Life
Lost to the Outside
Those from Without
Have builded up charnel houses
To nourish the fiends of TIAMAT
And the Blood of the weakest here
Is libation unto TIAMAT
Queen of the Ghouls”
In the above passage Tiamat is described as the “Queen of the Ghouls.” The Encyclopedia Britannica Online give this definition for ghoul:
“Considered female by the ancients, the ghūl was often confused with the sílā, also female; the sílā, however, was a witchlike species of jinn, immutable in shape…”
The Watchers descent into the Earth is noted in the Simon Necronoicon’s tale of Ishtar’s Decent, since Ereshkigal is representative of Eath, as Earth is the only planet amng the seven that has feminine attributes, the other is Venus, which is attributed to Ishtar. Enki, Ereshikigal’s twin brother, tried to rescue his sister when she was taken to “Kur.” Later, Enki became known as Lord of the Earth. The Earth is the Underworld.
Different than the belief held by practitioners of the Abrahamic faiths, it seems to make more sense, common sense, that “divine forces” would try to first redeem their own kind rather than attempt to save an experimental creation like the human being, lest it served a purpose that was useful to the Jinn. Therefore, much of what is written in sacred scriptures concerns itself not with humanity, but the race of Jinn who were left unaware of their heritage, but were trapped in human bodies, and for this reason do we find the Simon Necronomicon only useful to those who are Jinn or of Jinn progeny, Lovecraft described this experience as hearing the “Call of Cthulhu.”
Since we have already covered that Ishtar is a symbolic reference to the class of watchers, or the Jinn, we can nowspeak about the anatomy of the Jinn. The Jinn are composed of two fiery bodies that each have 150 attributes, which gives us a total of 300. The unification of these two aspect; one warlike and the other creative, or the “evening” and “morning” star, were symbolic of the Sacred Marriage Rite.
In this ritual, the Jinn can complete their being by aligning their astral body with their stellar body,the Mad Arab states:
“..for the Race of Draconis was ever powerful in ancient times, when the first temples were built in MAGAN, and they drew down much strength from the stars, but now they are as Wanderers of the Wastelands, and dwell in caves and in deserts, and in all lonely places where they have set up stones.”
The Mad Arab, like Jesus taught about out ancient heritage is coded phrases. we can determine the number 150 for the Draconic part of ourselves from which we are anchored too, by reviewing other passages in the Simon Necronomicon that were consistent with Ancient Mesopotamian history.The Book of Entrance states:
“And the Number of ANU is Sixty, the Perfect Number, for he is Father of the Heavens. And the Number of ENLIL is Fifty, and he is the Father of the Wind. And the Number of ENKI is Forty a most excellent Number, and he is our Father, of all who would tread these forgotten paths, and wander into Lands unknown, among the Wastes, amid frightful monsters of the Azonei.”
Anu (60) + Enlil (50) + Enki (40) gives us a total of 150. this is the creative aspect as Anu, Enlil, and Enki represent the elements of fire, air, and water, also known in Taoism as the Three Heavenly Treasures. within the process of Gate-Walking we are able to unlock the full potential of our astral body and connect it with our stellar self. The astral body consists of seven gates, which are: Nanna (30) + Nebo (12) + Ishtar (15) + Shammash (20) + Nergal (8) + Marduk (10) + Adar (4) which equals 99, but we must also add in the 50 names we recieve in Marduk’s Sphere. This would give us a total of 149, but the Sphere of Ki, which we call out from, is similar to the Fool’s card in the Tarot deck and is the grounding element, but as Earth is 1 meaning 149 + 1 = 150.
The Sacred Marriage Rite was symbolic of this amalgamation between our astral body and stellar self. Later Dumuzi was replaced by Marduk by the Babylonians replaced Dumuzi,. Therefore, we would get the same number by multiplying Ishtar (15) x Marduk (10) =150
The Mad Arab mentions that Enki (40) is our Father, since we as Jinn are similar to Enki, as well. Enki’s number, 40, represents the dual capacity of Shammash, ose number is 20. Shammash gives life energy to the living during the day and was said to judge the dead as he traveled through Mt. Mashu at night. Thus we find the Mad Arab’s words much more meaningful with this understanding:
“Therefore, thine obligation is as of the Gatekeeper of the Inside, agent of MARDUK, servant of ENKI, for the Gods are forgetful, and very far away, and it was to the Priests of the Flame that Covenant was given to seal the Gates between this World and the Other, and to keep Watch thereby, through this Night of Time, and the Circle of Magick is the Barrier, the Temple, and the Gate between the Worlds….Know, fourthly, that it is become the obligation of the Priests of the Flame and the Sword, and of all Magick, to bring their Power to the Underworld and keep it chained thereby, for the Underworld is surely the Gate Forgotten, by which the Ancient Ones ever seek Entrance to the Land of the Living, And the Ministers of ABSU are clearly walking the Earth, riding on the Air, and upon the Earth, and sailing silently through the Water, and roaring in the Fire, and all these Spirits must be brought to subjection to the Person of the Priest of Magick, before any else. Or the Priest becomes prey to the Eye of Death of the Seven ANNUNNAKI, Lord of the Underworld, Ministers of the Queen of Hell.”
Since Enki often exercised the ability to raise up the dead, Ishtar sent her Watcher to petition him on her behalf while she went to the Underworld. This is the same thing for us Jinn in the modern era. We too send our Watcher too beckon Enki while we are in the Underworld (Earth). This shows us that the Simon Necronomicon’s account of Ishtar descending into the Underworld is actually a rite of the Jinn realizing his/her true heritage while trapped in a human body. this is what Lovecraft meant by the rising of Cthulhu. Notice what was written by the Mad Arab:
“When the Great KUTULU rises up and greets the Stars, then the War will be over, and the World be One.”
It seems evident that these initiation rites involved the Jinn entering the human world and gaining some sort of refinement based on this process, which is identical to the account of Ishtar traveling to the Netherworld.We can ascertain this from several accounts, one being, The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean.

Wikipedia provides us with this description of the Tablets:
“The oldest documentable source for the text is the Kitab Sirr al-Asrar, a compendium of advice for rulers in Arabic which purports to be a letter from Aristotle to Alexander the Great. This work was translated into Latin as Secretum Secretorum (The Secret of Secrets) by Johannes “Hispalensis” or Hispaniensis (John of Seville) ca. 1140 and by Philip of Tripoli c. 1243.
In the 14th century, the alchemist Ortolanus wrote a substantial exegesis on “The Secret of Hermes,” which was influential on the subsequent development of alchemy. Many manuscripts of this copy of the Emerald Tablet and the commentary of Ortolanus survive, dating at least as far back as the 15th century.
The Tablet has also been found appended to manuscripts of the Kitab Ustuqus al-Uss al-Thani (Second Book of the Elements of Foundation) attributed to Jabir ibn Hayyan, and the Kitab Sirr al-Khaliqa wa San`at al-Tabi`a (“Book of the Secret of Creation and the Art of Nature”), dated between 650 and 830 AD”

According to the these Tablets, it is said that Thoth traveled after the fall of Atlantis to Egypt and taught the peoples in this region who were uncivilized-civilization This history is also available in the Islamic nations legends about the Jinn. According to the Dictionary of Islam, cited earlier in our discussion, we find the following history of the Jinn:
“It is said that God created the Jann (or Jinn) two thousand years before Adam (according to some writers, much earlier) and that they are believers and infidels and every sect among them, as among men….It is commonly believed that the preadamite Jinn were governed by forty (according to some seventy-two) kings, to each of whom the Arab writers give the name Sulaiman (Solomon); and that they derive their appellation from the last of these, who was called Jann Ibn-Jann, and who, some say, built the Pyramids of Egypt.”
We also find a similar history in the Cthulhu Mythos. The Simon Necronomicon makes the following statement concerning Azag-Thoth :
“Although a list is appended hereto containing various entities and concepts of Lovecraft, Crowley, and Sumeria cross-referenced, it will do to show how the Editor found relationships to be valid and even startling. AZATOT is frequently mentioned in the grim pages of the Cthulhu Mythos, and appears in the NECRONOMICON as AZAG-THOTH, a combination of two words, the first Sumerian and the second Coptic, which gives us a clue as to Its identity. AZAG in Sumerian means “Enchanter” or “Magician”; THOTH in Coptic is the name given to the Egyptian God of Magick and Wisdom, TAHUTI, who was eed by both the Golden Dawn and by Crowley himself (and known to the Greeks as Hermes, from whence we get “Hermetic”). AZAG-THOTH is, therefore, a Lord of Magicians, but of the “Black” magicians, or the sorcerers of the “Other Side”.”
Since the rites of Initiation concern themselves with he worship of the Ancient Ones, we can see here a clear connection between the Simon Necronomicon, the Cthulhu Mythos, and the Emerald Tablets. The reader may also want to note that the Sumerians corresponded Enki with Mercury, Later, the Babylonians replaced Enki’s role amongst the planetary spheres with Nebo. Althouth, some scholars are favoring the theory that Thoth was a “son” of Enki and not an Egyptian correspondence of Enki, such ideas are recent, as the authors of http://www.GatewaystoBabylon.com mentioned:
“..have also known Him under the names of Hermes, Odin and Thoth, but Enki is the Name my Sumerian Heart, Mind, Body and Soul connection loves best:”
Another amazing similarity with all of this, is that the Emerald Tablets mention the following concerning Thoth the Atlantean:
“For some 16,000 years, he ruled the ancient race of Egypt, from approximately 52,000 B.C. to 36,000 B.C. At that time, the ancient barbarous race among which he and his followers had settled had been raised to a high degree of civilization….Thoth was an immortal, that is, he had conquered death, passing only when he willed and even then not through death. His vast wisdom made him ruler over the various Atlantean colonies, including the ones in South and Central America….When the time came for him to leave Egypt, he erected the Great Pyramid over the entrance to the Great Halls of Amenti, placed in it his records, and appointed guards for his secrets from among the highest of his people.”
This passage taken from the “Preface” in the Emerald Tablets, resembles greatly what Lovecraft wrote of Nyarlathotep:
“And it was then that Nyarlathotep came out of Egypt. Who he was, none could tell, but he was of the old native blood and looked like a Pharaoh. The fellahin knelt when they saw him, yet could not say why. He said he had risen up out of the blackness of twenty-seven centuries, and that he had heard messages from places not on this planet. Into the lands of civilisation came Nyarlathotep, swarthy, slender, and sinister, always buying strange instruments of glass and metal and combining them into instruments yet stranger. He spoke much of the sciences – of electricity and psychology – and gave exhibitions of power which sent his spectators away speechless, yet which swelled his fame to exceeding magnitude. Men advised one another to see Nyarlathotep, and shuddered. And where Nyarlathotep went, rest vanished; for the small hours were rent with the screams of a nightmare”
Keeping in tune with our present discussion, we find that the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean discusses his venture into the Underworld, also known as the Halls of Amenti, which works as some sort of Lazarus Pit. The Amenti was the other life or Underworld of the Egyptians. It was the ” Land of the West ; ” the ” Dark ; ” the ” Secret … The especial place of New Birth was on an isle of the Amenti Nile of the Amenti Egypt. In the first Tablet we find Thoth words very revealing:
“In the great city of KEOR on the island of UNDAL,
in a time far past, I began this incarnation.
Not as the little men of the present age did
the mighty ones of Atlantis live and die,
but rather from aeon to aeon did they renew
their life in the Halls of Amenti where the river of life
flows eternally onward.
A hundred times ten
have I descended the dark way that led into light,
and as many times have I ascended from the
darkness into the light my strength and power renewed.
Now for a time I descend,
and the men of KHEM (Khem is ancient Egypt)
shall know me no more.”
From the words of Thoth that were written hundreds of years ago, the descent into the dark realms served to maintain a state of immortality and amplified the strength of the Initiate. So far we have found these same examples hidden in the mysteries of the Necronomicon Tradition, as well as, the Cthulhu Mythos.
