Commentaries On The Magan Text Part 3: The Akashic Records

For many years people have tried to access the meaning of the Magan Text and what role it has to play in the Necronomicon Tradition. After our first two articles, we come to another passage in the Magan Text’s introduction that reveals the text’s place in the Simon Necronomicon:

“I copied these words down in my tongue and kept them faithfully these many years, and my own copy will go with me to the place where I will go when my Spirit is torn from the body. But heed these words well, and remember! For remembering is the most important and most potent magick, being the Rememberance of Things Past and the Rememberance of Things to Come, which is the same Memory. And do not show this text to the uninitiated, for it hath caused madness, in men and in beasts.”

The above passage does give us a lot to think about. However, we would only be deceiving ourselves  if we were to take these words literally. The Mad Arab mentioned that he was able to copy these words down in his own tongue and for the first time in the tome he speaks with a certain surety about his future. Prior to this passage, the Mad Arab tells us how he came upon this text:

“I came upon this text in my early wanderings in the region of the Seven Fabled Cities of UR,”

The Mad Arab was able to recover the text from his wanderings in the” Seven Fabled Cities of Ur.”  His use of the term “Fabled” seems to show much of the dismay surrounding the Necronomicon Tradition today, with regards to its fictional origins. yet we must also consider that there were many ancient esoteric schools that used fictional symbolism to explore alchemical principles. This is true even in modern religions, such as Christianity and Islam There is absolutely no contradiction in alchemy, mystical practices, religion, and the occult. In reality they are all one. However, the average person will waste his time debating with others because he is stuck in the logical process and his ego is bent on being complacent, which in turn manifests itself with this sudden need to “be right.” Yet the Initiated  understand that there is no difference in esoteric thought, but the aesthetics and symbols used to explain occult principles may differ.

One of the reasons why the average person never evolves in his/her understanding is because they cannot understand that you cannot follow a dead man’s teaching . We see so much conflict in the Abrahamic religions, as well as bloodshed, due to ignorance to this fact. Most importantly, if some “guru” is no longer alive, he or she, is not present to correct the layman’s understanding about what the really meant as their sayings may be written is scripture. Usually, occult teachers instruct the students in various exercises that will promote their spiritual growth and awareness, the wisdom that the teacher expounds upon, which is usually revered as an inspired scripture from god or whatever, is actually the accumulated wisdom that has been gained from employing the said practices that the teacher has given to the student. This is easily understood between the teacher and the student, but after a few generations have passed, someone may pick up  these so-called “sacred sayings” and begin misinterpreting them because they are reading them from a literal point of view. This is why so many people  are not aware of, or even question the authenticity of the Necronomicon Tradition.  In all honesty, there is no need to follow a “dead man” once we are aligned with the same forces that inspired the said “spiritual teacher.” This is why Jesus once said that his “followers would do greater work than he did.” But since many so-called “Christians” worship Jesus, they can never understand him, for the very worship of Jesus only insinuates that he is dead.

The second principle that must be understood is that there is no knowledge in books. Maybe you may remember a time when you thought that the memorization of the “facts” that you read in books gave you somewhat of an edge, or just having the ability to remember something you read meant that you were evolving. I thought that way once too until I began my process of self-initiation. Books are very useful because we can gain some sort of validation of what we are experiencing in our spiritual work to the written records of those who are more advanced in the said field of study. Books also offer some historical observations to help us appreciate the value of the aesthetic and symbolism that we may be using in our spiritual work. For example, there are many books that provide information concerning the various deities contained within the Simon Necronomicon, yet it is our experience in employing these energies that gives us a greater value to what we have read. There is a great necessity to become well-versed in the knowledge of Ancient Mesopotamia and its deities if we are to make progress in our work, but we should also be balanced in our thinking and understand that acquiring information from reading is not the same thing as spiritual evolution. Knowledge comes not from memorization, but from our work. The information that we feed our minds can only aid us in this process, but it is not the work itself. We can see a clear example of this in martial arts. Can you imagine if someone thought of themselves as a well-trained martial artist just because they are well read in let’s say Karate? How would this approach help them if they ever tried to use what they read in a real life situation? Thus, we can see that books only present an introduction, or history, about a particular field of study. it may give us a pattern in how to associate the terms used in a certain school of thought actually apply to various exercises.

Books also offer a step-by-step guide to what we have to learn and at what time. There is a place for memorization of the material we read. it is also a part of the work, but only for doing the work. We will discuss this later in this article. However, what separates the Initiate from the laymen, is that the Initiate is aware that unless we are working in a particular field of occult science, reading is simply moving the bookshelf from the living room wall to the memory bank, as its only value become used in street-corner debates and idle talk that induces fear among the masses. The Christian say it so much simpler and easier. “Faith without works is dead.”

The third trap that the laymen faces is his/her own ego. There are so many people concerned with “being right” that they actually become “no good.” Being right is the very same reason the United States is at war right now killing innocent people. Think about it. Let me state that I am not implying we take on a criminal mindset, or become immoral, for that would only assert that we regressing upon our respective spiritual paths and this is where the value of the “dark tradition comes into play. A lot of times people investigate “spiritual paths” based on their reverence for a particular character, or an idea in their minds of how they can impress others and often times they are not even aware of it.. For example,  many people develop a curiosity about a particular field of spiritual teaching because they have heard very impressive stories about the Freemasons, the Thelemites,  Typhonians, and etc. So they join organizations that claim to represent the teachings that inspired  these legendary people into action, and they can gain some benefit from it. Yet if their intentions go on unchecked, they will never really evolve because their egos will stand in the way. What is ironic is that these same people would have never thought about taking on such a spiritual path when these groups were looked down upon by society in general. When these groups faced  heavy persecution by their peers during the time of their start. They only consider being a part of these traditions now, long after they have become legendary and the advance that these groups inspired has reached its fruition. But what they fail to realize is that for the most part, the teachings of these organizations have to be filtered for them to become mainstream. They should also consider their intentions in joining such organizations may merely be to impress others. They feel complacent in the comradeship and the pat on the pack, but often times these groups are just “reading circles” and know nothing of the exercises that were used by the groups that they seek so hard to Initiate. They are completely unaware that these groups sprung forth  based on a secret society that always renews itself by renewing the teachings based on a newer aesthetic. For example, at one time it was nothing to sacrifice an animal as part of one’s spiritual path. However, we do not live in a world like that today and there are many things that cannot be obtained that were once popular in ancient society.

Today, it is much easier going to the supermarket and using bread to feed the Watcher. This doesn’t mean that certain methods have become outdated, but what it does mean is that the aesthetics of the divine mind reconfigured itself and always presents itself in a simple way. Yet at the same time the divine mind is not adapting to the times, but resurrecting ancient practices that could easily be employed in any era of man. When the Initiate begins to grow in their spiritual evolution they can learn how to make the Qliphotic Tradition adaptable to any life situation. One example of this can be seen in Taoism. Taoism began as a shamanistic path that later became alchemical, then devotional, yet it can still be observed in by the shaman in all three perspectives.

The Dark Tradition, in its pure form is also shamanistic, alchemical, and devotional. Yet these three aspects are employed without the false ego. See many people still fear the Dark Tradition and dark aesthetics. Therefore, when a person explores the Necronomicon Tradition, it is not something you can run out and tell your friends about, if you are living a responsible life. Of course there are some fools who are worth nothing and will boast about using some aspect of the book to curse someone, and etc, not realizing that they are speeding up their own fatality. I am referring to people who are trying to do something with their lives. people who are blue-collar workers, lawyers, doctors, fathers, mothers, and etc. These people cannot run out and receive a lot of support from their friends or family once they enter the Necronomicon Tradition. it is a solitaire path. Therefore, one cannot really use it to impress others. It does not provide the comradeship that religions have. Therefore, one has to really gain a relationship with the deities in the Tradition and it is through this relationship that other teachings are transmitted. Thus, it removes the idea of trying to impress others. It can happen to some but not with the high numbers that people involved in religious thought fall victim to. It is a spiritual martial art, and in the Necronomicon Tradition we are also forced to explore other Traditions that may contain a piece of what we practice, but with a different aesthetic. For example, Simon compares the Simon Necronomicon to Taoism quite often in his book Gates of the Necronomicon. There are a lot of Ifa Priests that I have spoken with and saw some similarities between our Tradition and their practices. Even when I read the Christian Bible today, I see so much more and how it pertains to our Tradition than I did as a “Christian.” This is actually what the Mad Arab meant when he said the following:

“I came upon this text in my early wanderings in the region of the Seven Fabled Cities of UR,”

The Mad Arab, or the collective body of Gate-Walkers that he/she personifies, was involved in the work and because of such was able to get glimpses of the “Mind of God.” The result is the Magan Text. The Mad Arab mentions that these words will go with him when his “Spirit is torn from the body.” his clearly refers to the Akashic Records. If we read the words of the Mad Arab and compare it with something as simple as Wikipedia’s definition of the term, it sheds a lot of light about what the Mad Arab was talking about:

“I copied these words down in my tongue and kept them faithfully these many years, and my own copy will go with me to the place where I will go when my Spirit is torn from the body. But heed these words well, and remember! For remembering is the most important and most potent magick, being the Rememberance of Things Past and the Rememberance of Things to Come, which is the same Memory. And do not show this text to the uninitiated, for it hath caused madness, in men and in beasts.”

Now let us look at how Wikipedia defines the Akashic Records:

“The akashic records (akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning “sky“, “space” or “aether“) is a term used in theosophy (and Anthroposophy) to describe a compendium of mystical knowledge encoded in a non-physical plane of existence. These records are described as containing all knowledge of human experience and the history of the cosmos. They are metaphorically described as a library; other analogues commonly found in discourse on the subject include a “universal computer” and the “Mind of God”. People who describe the records assert that they are constantly updated and that they can be accessed through astral projection.”

This definition compares greatly to how the Mad Arab obtained his copy of the Magan Text. Through the astral workings of Gate-Walking, the Mad Arab was able to get certain knowledge. This Wikipedia article makes mention that the Akashic Records pertain to knowledge ‘encoded in a non-physical plane of existence.’ This would mean that the Akashic Records are not to be found in the Land of the Living. Interestingly, Simon asserts the same thing about the Magan Text in the Simon Necronomicon’s Prefatory Notes:

“Then appears the Centerpiece of the Book, the MAGAN text. The word MAGAN may mean the Land of the MAGAN which was said to lie in the West of Sumer. For a time, it seems the name MAGAN was synonymous with the Place of Death – as the Sun ‘died’ in the West. Hence, it is a bit confusing as to what MAGAN is really supposed to mean in this text, but in context the “Place of Death” explanation seems quite valid.”

As we discussed earlier, the average person would take the above quote on face value and think this is a reference to something demonic. yet the Initiate knows that the Place of Death refers to the “non-physical plane of existence. The Mad Arab continues by stating something very important:

“But heed these words well, and remember! For remembering is the most important and most potent magick, being the Rememberance of Things Past and the Rememberance of Things to Come, which is the same Memory.”

When we compare the above passage with the definition, cited earlier, concerning the Akashi Records, we can definitely see a close parallel. The Akashic Records contain all knowledge of human history and the cosmos, past, present, and future. This relates heavily to what the Mad Arab is talking about when he describes Rememberance of the past is the same as Rememberance of the future. Therefore, the Magan text is the Akashic Record of the Necronomicon Tradition. This also illustrates three states of spiritual evolution:
  1. Past: Experiencing and witnessing the influence that past events have on the Present moment.
  2. Present: Understanding that the present moment is an amalgamation, or marriage between the present and the future.
  3. Future: Being able to see and create the future in the present moment
Now that we understand that the Magan Text is an Akashic Record, we are thus given insight into how to become immortal and our existence before man was created.”

..the first is the sign of our Race from beyond the Stars, and is called ARRA in the tongue of the Scribe who taught it to me, an emissary of the Elder Ones. In the tongue of the eldest city of Babylon, it was UR. It is the Sigil of the Covenant of the Elder Gods, and when they see it, they who gave it to us, they will not forget us. They have sworn!”
