The Mountains of Masshu and the Pituitary Gland

In our last article we discussed the value of Mt. Mashu, which according to the Gilgamesh Epics was located within a forest of Cedar trees. We also mentioned how Mt. Mashu, when accessed, was a way to the Throne of Ishtar, The Abode of the Gods, and a way to the Underworld. These three aspects correspond to the Three Seals of MASSHU as mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon. We concluded our 2ND Issue by identifying Mt. Mashu with the Pituitary Gland.

The Pituitary Gland is a small bean-shaped, reddish-gray organ located in the saddle-shaped depression (sella turcica) in the floor of the skull (the sphenoid bone) and attached to the base of the brain by a stalk. This description of the Pituitary Gland compares to what Gilgamesh saw as he approached Mt. Mashu (translated by Herbert Mason); “When he arrived at the mountains of Mashu, whose peaks reached the shores of Heaven and whose roots descend to hell..,” Here the ‘peaks of Mashu’ are described as reaching the ’shores of Heaven.’ This would correspond to the Pituitary Gland’s placement near the Hypothalamus Gland. The work of endocrinologist Roger Guillemin during the 1960’s proved that the Hypothalamus Gland sends chemical messages to the Lobes of the Pituitary Gland, causing it to secrete certain hormones that are the cause of adolescent growth and also gonadotropic hormones involving the ovaries and testes. It is noted that when Gilgamesh arrived at Mt. Mashu, he was questioned by the Scorpion man and his wife. The Scorpion people are described in some translations of the Gilgamesh Epics, as having an awesome knowledge. The Scorpion man and his wife would therefore relate to the gonadotropic hormones FSH and LH.

In our previous posts, we covered the fact that Mt. Mashu means ‘twin’ in Akkadian. This relates to the Anterior Lobe and the Posterior Lobe of the Pituitary Gland. These two lobes are the Twin Peaks of the Mountains of Mashu. (It should also be noted that within the Pituitary Gland there exists the Intermediate Lobe, which in human beings is only present during early childhood and during pregnancy. Its function is unknown to the western world of medicine, but in the great Tantric Rites of Ancient Sumer, its function was that of a protective nature and it is able to integrate messages from heaven to earth within individuals who have raised their Kundalini. (It acts as Humbaba.)

We also find within the Gilgamesh Epics that Mt. Mashu’s roots descended into ‘Hell’ or, as other translations would appropriately put it, the Underworld. This is symbolic of the Pituitary Gland’s attachment to the Brain Stem, which connects the lower parts of the brain to the spinal cord that descends down to the Root Chakra where the Kundalini is stored. With this information in mind, we can now make the following correspondences in reference to the three aspects that could be accessed once the Initiate entered Mt Mashu.

1) The Underworld would relate to the Root Chakra, which stores the Kundalini force. We should also note here that Mt Mashu was to be found within a forest of Cedar trees. Hindu mystics, without knowledge of the Gilgamesh Epics, have long used Cedar incense as a stimulant for the Root Chakra in raising the Kundalini force.

2) The Throne of Ishtar would correspond to the Hypothalamus Gland.

3) The Abode of the Gods would then relate to the Pineal Gland. The Pineal Gland is responsible for the production of the hormone melatonin. It is also said to control our appetites, desires, and moods, which would relate to Enlil, who is of a higher order of gods than Ishtar.  He is a Storm God. The Ancient Sumerians equated the emotions with storms. The Pineal Gland is also responsible for sexual development, but it shrinks in puberty, an action that is echoed in the Intermediate Lobe of the Pituitary Gland, which appears in early childhood and then disappears, though appearing in woman during stages of pregnancy. This confirms our comparison to the Intermediate Lobe of the Pituitary Gland to Humbaba. It is said in the Gilgamesh Epics that Humbaba could use the eye of death and create awe inspiring storms. We also know that Enlil was the Storm god who placed Humbaba in the Cedar forest. This would also solve what Western medicine has long been ignorant of, that the Intermediate Lobe in the Pituitary Gland is a direct reflection of the Pineal Gland. In Yoga the Pineal gland is associated with the Third Eye or Anja Chakra. Now that we have validated that the Pituitary Gland is Mt Mashu on a physical level, let us look into the deeper meanings of the Gilgamesh Epics.

The essence of ones’ spirituality and immortality is found in their sexuality. It cannot be ignored that human civilization was able to advance technologically after the ’sons of god’ took wives from amongst the ‘daughters of men.’ The knowledge shared by Tantric Adepts with uncivilized man, was the knowledge that mankind needed to advance himself in various technologies that we enjoy today.

Earlier in our discussion, we spoke about the Scorpion people, who are described in the Epics of Gilgamesh as possessing an awesome knowledge. It is no mystery, in view of the prior statements that the zodiac sign of Scorpio in astrology corresponds to the genitals. These Ancient Tantric Adepts were perceived by uncivilized man as gods. The Rites of these Adepts had nothing to do with degrading oneself sexually, but was indeed a lifestyle, a culture that could best be described as Ancient Nanotechnology. However, the Ancients knew that raising the Kundalini force was indeed very dangerous! So they hid buried these Rites in dark aesthetics of death, demons, and even beasts. I have seen many people approach grimoires, such as the Simon Necronomicon, in the same ignorance which causes scholars to call a king like Gilgamesh a hero. Here is a tyrant who abused the Tantric Rites by demanding to sleep with every newly married bride before their husbands would, and this is what scholars call a hero?!!!

The Gilgamesh Epics served as an example and warning to the initiated about the pitfalls of raising the Kundalini force. Gilgamesh was such a tyrant, that his contradictory actions caused the gods to create Enkidu, an uncivilized man, who became equal to Gilgamesh through a series of Tantric initiations lead by the temple priestess (prostitute) Shamhat, Enkidu was transformed. It is said that he was like an animal until they made love for six days and seven nights. This would indicate that from the new moon to the moon’s full crescent stage, which takes seven nights, Enkidu passed through seven gates. The crescent moon was also attributed to Anu. Ancient Tantric Adepts had a big celebration on the New Moon for it was a symbol of when Ishtar rose from the dead and ascended through the seven gates of the Underworld, which would mean that her ascending from the Underworld was marked by the crescent moon. This would explain the configuration of the Seal for Nanna’s Gate in the Simon Necronomicon. It has long been noted that gods were distinguished from humans based on the fact that gods were often depicted as wearing horned-crowns. These horned-crowns are often misinterpreted by pseudo-pagans and occultists as being a symbol of the crescent moon, when this is only half the story. They were symbolic of the two lips of the vulva, and ones’ raising the Kundalini force through the seven chakras to the area of the Pituitary Gland or twin-lobed gland, which gave the initiate godlike wisdom. Are you feeling a little horny? In the Tantric Rites, the Kundalini force was motivated by the feminine force, which is what civilized Enkidu. It is the same reason why the Simon Necronomicon makes use of the copper dagger of Inanna because it is through a feminine element that the power or yang energies can be harnessed from the planetary deities causing the Kundalini force to ascend. The Ancient Adepts were engaged in the Tantric Rites. Notice what is mentioned in the Simon Necronomicon on page 100: “but the Priests of Old were naked in their rites.” It is also interesting to note that in the Simon Necronomicon the Crown of Anu is to be made of beaten copper. Copper was a symbol of blood in Ancient Sumeria. Yet the flow of blood in a woman’s cycle is controlled by the phases of the moon. This all relates to raising the force of Kundalini. Cedar incense corresponds to the Root Chakra or Kundalini Chakra, which would explain even further why it was so sacred to the Ancient Sumerians. Thus, when Gilgamesh had the desire to cut down trees in the Cedar forest and kill Humbaba to gain renown, Gilgamesh symbolized the rising of the Solar Cults, and

Thus, when Gilgamesh had the desire to cut down trees in the Cedar forest and kill Humbaba to gain renown, Gilgamesh symbolized the rising of the Solar Cults and their destruction of the ancient Lunar Rites. This is also seen in the Gilgamesh Epics when Ishtar threw the Bull of Heaven at Gilgamesh, which represented the Kundalini force, and Gilgamesh and Enkidu killed it. When Ishtar entreated Gilgamesh to be her lover and she would give him power, he spurned her. Some may look at this aspect as a literal part of the story, yet those who are initiated in the Rites know that Gilgamesh was mocking the Sacred Marriage Rite. This would also explain why Ishtar visited the Underworld. In the Epic of Inanna’s Descent to the Underworld Inanna/Ishtar, is said to see about her brother-in-law who has died. Before Ereshkigal was married to Nergal, she was married to Gugalana whose name means ‘Bull of Heaven.’ Evidently, she went to the Underworld to resurrect the teachings of raising the Kundalini. This explains why Enki would be the only one amongst the older set of gods to resurrect her. Remember in part two of our discussion, we briefly stated that the word Pituitary is derived from the Latin term Pituita which means phlegm. We also discussed how Hippocrates (a student of Chaldean Spirituality) equated water with phlegm. Enki is the god of water, which means that Enki oversees the Pituitary Gland. The Pituitary Gland in the Tantric Rites interacts with the rising Kundalini force! This would also explain why in the Simon Necronomicon, the so-called basterdized version of INANNA”s Descent, Ishtar’s Watcher is sent to Enki alone, as Enki was also symbolized by the full moon. The power of the full moon motivates the Kundalini to ascend. With all that we have discussed, Gilgamesh failed to gain immortality due to his disrespect for the Tantric Tradition. If we remember, Enkidu was civilized through the Tantric initiations, which symbolically lasted for six days and seven nights. Later in the Epics, Utnapishtim told Gilgamesh that if he was as godlike as he thought he was and wanted to live forever, he had to stay awake for six days and seven nights to prove it. But Gilgamesh was tired because of his journey and had grown drowsy as he listened to Utnapishtim’s story, he fell asleep. This means that regardless of how mighty the solar cults may have appeared to be, in the end their destructive path cost them the chance for immortality.
