Colby Lee Burke: I am best defined by my passions. I am a travel writer who has traversed across the globe to find the perfect story to tell. I love telling other people about what is out there and encourage them to travel as well.
Warlock Asylum: What inspired you to pursue a path in writing, and more specifically as a travel writer?
Colby Lee Burke: I had begun freelance writing whenever I was in college. I developed a love of travel and wished to see the world. It would be a chance encounter that would motivate me to pursue my passions and make a living out of what I love to do most.
Warlock Asylum: What challenges did you have to overcome to make a living out of becoming a freelance travel writer?
Colby Lee Burke: Loneliness is certainly one of the biggest problems that you may regularly face whenever you are on the road. It is important to find a solid base somewhere that you can call home whenever you are traveling often. It will keep you grounded whenever you are feeling like you are lost.
Warlock Asylum: How were you able to establish yourself as a reputable resource for travel info?
Colby Lee Burke: I worked hard and made the right connections whenever I was traveling. This allowed me to slowly and steadily climb the ladder and allowed me to become a reputable source for travel info.
Warlock Asylum: One of your favorite travel destinations that you highly recommend is Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Can you share a few details as to why this location in particular ranks so favorably with you?
Colby Lee Burke: This destination is a perfect place to soak up some sun and get away from it all. I am very fond of beaches and love the atmosphere they provide. It has a combination of relaxation and activeness that you can’t find anywhere. The amenities on the island are incredible and I love it even more for this reason.
Warlock Asylum: What activities can people enjoy while vacationing in Hilton Head?
Colby Lee Burke: There’s plenty of activities to do when you arrive on the island. There’s watersports activities, tours, and plenty of spas that you can visit to relax at. There’s something out there for everyone if you look hard enough.
Warlock Asylum: Would you recommend Hilton Head for a family vacation?
Colby Lee Burke: I absolutely would. As I mentioned before, there is something out there for everyone. You can find family-friendly activities to participate in as well. Whether you want to take your family out to the beach or out for a five-class meal, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.
Warlock Asylum: Interestingly, we find that one of the biggest things that people take into consideration when traveling is safety. Would you say that Hilton Head is a relatively safe place to visit?
Colby Lee Burke: I would say that Hilton Head is one of the safest places to visit. There is security working around the clock to ensure that you and your family are safe. Concerning incidents are almost nonexistent out there. You can let your guard down and enjoy yourself knowing others are working for your safety at Hilton Head.
Warlock Asylum: What are some of the other travel destinations that you have found to be favorable?
Colby Lee Burke: Another location that I love to visit frequently is Florence, Italy. The food and atmosphere are phenomenal out there. I am a big proponent of learning as much about other people’s culture as possible. There is nothing but history and culture to be found in Florence. I recommend that you visit this place at least once for an incredible experience.
Warlock Asylum: Can you please share with us some of the things you’ve learned about life since working as a travel writer?
Colby Lee Burke: One of the biggest lessons that I have learned from this job is that only you can make your dreams come true. You cannot depend on anyone else but yourself to make this a reality.
Warlock Asylum: What can we expect to see you accomplish over the next couple of years? Any upcoming projects in the works?
Colby Lee Burke: The plan is to continue traveling and writing for the foreseeable future. At some point or another, I may release a guide of some sort about my favorite locations to visit.
