The album is comprised of thirteen tracks filled with textured rhythms and colorful bars. “Dope In Real Life,” is a breath of fresh air in the music scene. Filled with powerful lyrics, infectious beats, and raw emotions, this album showcases Miranda’s undeniable talent and passion for her craft.

In a manner similar to how Raekwon the Chef’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx impacted the mid-90s, so too do we find Dope In Real Life as this generation’s “purple tape,” setting the tone for the next decade and beyond. Miranda begins this musical expedition with the track Like Me. Musically, we are drawn into the synergy of the song through its alluring synth bass and superb drum pattern. Miranda’s sarcastic and witty verbal jabs serves as an announcement for all haters to check their egos at the door.

Next, we are introduced to the title track D.I.R.L, an acronym for Dope In Real Life. The song demonstrates one of the variety of flows that Miranda is able conjure up amid the album’s majestic production. As the First Lady of Hip Hop, Miranda Writes’ pen is on fire, as she elegantly states “I’m in my don’t give a fuck era.” Wonderful metaphors over tropical chords is a flavorful recipe. This formula is further exemplified in Myself, a groovy rap song and response to the excessive lying, which is known urbanely as cappin. Of course, the tune affords Miranda Writes the opportunity to paint a picture in your mind that illustrates the silliness of all those opposed to her lyrical prowess.

Within the next trilogy of the album’s sequence, we discover more sonic treasures for the soul. Beginning with Electra Trifecta, a perfect party track and dance floor for Miranda to skate upon verbally. It’s an intense tune and high-energy song that will make you want to get up and move. The track Happy Dance follows as an instant album favorite. Miranda takes a slow flow route on this infectious melody with a West Coast flare. Definitely one of the album highlights filled with rewind-worthy bravado. Boyz is next on deck. It’s a  cool track written from a lady’s perspective  on her love for guys and the beauty of male to female attraction.

Ball So Hard featuring MajestyDaRebel is an absolute standout, with its catchy beats and powerful lyrics that will have you hitting repeat over and over again. Miranda Writes’ delivery is flawless, and her raw talent shines through in every song on this incredible album. MajestyDaRebel adds to the electricity of the track with his distinct vocal tone and sharp poetics. Ball So Hard is a signature track for the Harlem Globetrotters emcee.

Taylor Swift was released as a single and saw heavy rotation in 2023. Zits place on the album is very fitting and exhibits Miranda’s knack and skill to compose textured hooks with meaning. Taylor Swift is a musical lesson in the genre’s power. Trust Issues bends more on Miranda’s serious side and confronts some of the deeper complexities of romance and trust. Another Dope In Real Life gem that speaks to real issues of the heart.

Dope In Real Life continues with phenomenal tracks like I’m A Mood, Get Away, and Good Vibes, which sets up an explosive concluding track called Wassup B., a killer tune that will have you grooving from the first beat. The catchy lyrics and infectious energy in this song make it an instant hit that you’ll want to have on repeat.
