The highly talented artist and human rights activist Robert Kajiwara has dedicated much of his life’s work for Ryukyuan and Hawaiian causes. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Kajiwara back in the early half of 2019 while reviewing his inspiring EP titled Peace For Okinawa Benefit. Kajiwara tries to create awareness about the legacy of both Hawaii and Okinawa in everything that he does, including music.
Kajiwara has brought world attention to the struggles affecting Okinawa and Hawaii. He has been featured in 60 news and media publications in more than 15 countries, including The Associated Press, BBC World, The South China Morning Post, Japan Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and others. Kajiwara is also the president of Peace For Okinawa Coalition and has worked deeply towards the independence of Hawaii as a neutral and sovereign state under the direction of Ke Aupuni O Hawaii. Kujiwara has spoken to audiences at the United Nations, Yale University and many more academic and political venues. It is with great honor that I am happy to announce Robert Kajiwara as the recipient of the Warlock Asylum International News 2020 Humanitarian of the Year Award! Wishing you all the best in your efforts and work.
