Grandmaster Don Miskel has been actively involved in martial arts for over five decades. He became actively involved in training in 1957. A few years later, Miskel began studying Judo and Kano Jiu-Jitsu under Mas Tamara at the Jiu-Jitsu Institute in Downtown Chicago. During the mid-1960s, Miskel initiated training in Shorei Goju Karate under the instruction of Sensei Doug Dwyer. He was an original member of the ‘Black Dragon Fighting Society’ and worked extensively with the legendary John Keehan aka Counte Dante.

Grandmaster Don Miskel is not only a man with a golden fist but also a licensed and ordained minister. Miskel has a Doctorate in Theology (ThD) and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling (DCC). He also possesses a Masters in Divinity (MDiv), holds a BA in Psychology, and an A.A. in Microbiology and Chemistry. Amazingly, Miskel uses his accumulative wisdom to educate the youth and others in their plight of inner cultivation. In 2012, upon the passing of Grandmaster Day, Dr. Miskel was elected as the Head of the IFAA Black Dragon Fighting Society.

Grandmaster Don Miskel is a man of great faith and a sterling example of the fruitage and rewards of consistent focus and training. He is a great instructor and a wise one of the cloth. It is with great honor that I am happy to announce Grandmaster Don Miskel as the recipient of the Warlock Asylum International News 2021 Martial Artist of the Year Award!
