In the Year 2889 (also known as Year 2889) is a 1967 made-for-television, post-apocalyptic science fiction film from American International Pictures about the aftermath of a future nuclear war. The film stars Paul Petersen, Quinn O’Hara,Charla Doherty, Neil Fletcher and Hugh Feagin. AIP commissioned low-budget cult film auteur Larry Buchanan to produce and direct this film as a color remake of Roger Corman‘s 1955 film Day the World Ended.
In the Year 2889 is an excellent film and was one of the early dramas that described possibilities of a post-apocalyptic humanity and their survival. The film displays various perspectives and survivalist strategies of different mortal archetypes. If we are to view the film under this guise, you are in for a real treat. Personally, I appreciate Year 2889 as a sci-fi thriller with some awesome moments of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
