Based out of India, the 16-year-old producer known as Flamix is making his mark as a living legend within the musical community of EDM. Flamix’s work as an electronic composer is brilliant, insatiable, and totally uncompromising. I recently had the blessed honor of talking with this emerging musical phenomenon and got to learn a little bit about the artistic genius that motivates him. Enjoy!

Warlock Asylum: Thanks for sharing some insights into your world of artistry with our readers. Please introduce yourself. Who is Flamix?
Flamix: Flamix is a 16-year-old Bengal-based DJ/Producer from India. I currently live in New Delhi. I enjoy making music that falls under the categorization of psychedelic trance, future bass, house, and trap. In a very short span of time, he has gained support from many major and mediocre DJs all over the world.
Warlock Asylum: Can you share with us a little bit about your childhood and the environment that you grew up in?
Flamix: My real name Sagnik K Das. I grew up in a loving household with my father Dulu Chandra Das and mother Riniya, along with my little brother named Darpan. I was born on 21st February 2004 in Bombay, India. When I was four years old, my family moved from Mumbai to West Bengal, a place where I remained for 11 years.
My love for music began to blossom at the age of nine, largely due to the pressure from my family to learn the Indian instrument called the tabla. During this time, I attended Don Bosco School, Siliguri. When in the 9th standard, I cooked some trap beats and started rapping. My popularity grew quickly because I created rap stories that made fun of my teachers and friends. I wrote lyrics that were funny and catchy and later made raps for mom and family too. After completing my boards, I moved from Bengal to Delhi. It was there that my love for producing electronic dance music grew. Every day I became obsessed with creating EDM.

Warlock Asylum: What inspired you to get involved in music at such a young age?
Flamix: Music has surrounded my life since I was a child. Without music. my life seemed empty. My pursuit of music was never difficult.
Warlock Asylum: What were some of the things in particular that led you to the EDM sound and work as a producer?
Flamix: I heard a track named Spaceman from Hardwell. I found out that it was EDM and it was produced electronically on a computer. I figured out the whole process and started working seriously on this EDM thing.
Warlock Asylum: What were some of the obstacles that you had to overcome in order to make a career in the music industry?
Flamix: The only two obstacles that I faced were number one no family support and criticism from family and friends.
Warlock Asylum: Do you follow any particular formula for making a track or is it about the vibe of how you are feeling at the time?
Flamix: I never have a particular formula or a secret for starting a track. I never start with a hook. I make every track of mine in a sequence. This way I feel comfortable. It also depends on the vibes and mood I have at that point in time.
Warlock Asylum: I think one of the most celebrated tracks you’ve made thus far is Yamato. What is spired you to produce such a lovely groove?
Flamix: I was inspired by EDM producer, Tiesto. His music really inspired me a lot for this groove. The initial version of Yamato had a totally different rhythm. Shout out to my nephew, Ankit for giving me such a wonderful track name, Yamato.
Warlock Asylum: What can our readers expect to hear from Flamix in the future? Any upcoming projects? Final thoughts?
Flamix: I am about to release my debut Mayuri EP on my own record label April 15th.
Stay tuned for that. It’s going to be special. A lot of singles coming up this year. I think this is the year, 2020, that I want to blow up. I am aspiring to get signed by a major label soon. As a final thought, I would say to keep supporting my tracks and I will be better track by track and promise to bring the finest music to your ears.
