Currently based out of Los Angeles, entrepreneur, producer, songwriter, and DJ Jesse Neo has built a rich musical legacy, while still in his early-20s, including his work as a trained pianist and violinist. Amazingly, the trained pianist and violinist recently founded his own online platform called Gemtracks, which serves as a place for producers to buy and sell beats, collaborate with each other and work towards a more musical future in a digital way.

Recently, I had the opportunity to converse with Jesse Neo and discuss some of his endeavors and musical beginnings. I’m sure you will find some true gems in his words. Enjoy!

Warlock Asylum: Before we begin, I would like to express my thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule in order to share some insights about your life and career with our readers. Please introduce yourself. Who is Jesse Neo?

Jesse Neo: I am a 23-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ originally from Australia, but now based in Los Angeles. I have been releasing music since 2017 and have consequently then worked as a composer for several media companies before starting my own online music platform, Gemtracks.

Warlock Asylum: What type of environment did you grow up in?

Jesse Neo: I grew up in a highly musical family. From a very young age, I was given a violin, piano, and singing lessons. I remember experimenting with my own compositions at around 7 or 8 and then began taking it seriously during middle school. To this day, music is something I put very close to my heart and I just can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

Warlock Asylum: How did you get involved in music and how did it become a career path for you?

Jesse Neo: I was always involved with music, but it only became a career in 2017 after I self-released several electronic music recordings. Suddenly, several magazines began highlighting my music with great reviews. Before I knew it, companies were reaching out to me, asking if I could be their songwriter.

Warlock Asylum: As a musician and songwriter, what drew you into the world of electronic music?

Jesse Neo: It was actually just an experiment to try something new. In 2016, I decided to take a music production class to learn how to manipulate audio, record vocals, and DJ. I found it to be incredibly interesting and completely different from the classical music that I have grown up with. I was instantly drawn to it. Eventually, I began a regular attendee of raves and clubs.

Warlock Asylum: Who are some of your musical influences?

Jesse Neo: Today, I really admire all the top DJs and producers including David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and Marshmello. I think they’re all extremely talented and I hope one day I can reach their level of production too.

Warlock Asylum: Tell us about your critically acclaimed single Sex Magic. What inspired you to compose this song?

Jesse Neo: I was feeling inspired one Sunday afternoon and decided to do something with the music production knowledge that I had just acquired. At that time, I was reading into the occult and Tantric sex, and that eventually became the inspiration for the song. The beat is inspired by Eurodance and Bollywood.

Warlock Asylum: What are some of the messages that you seek to convey in your music?

Jesse Neo: The ultimate messages in my music are all about love, acceptance, sexual liberty, and opening of the mind. Music has a very spiritual effect on me, and I hope this can also be conveyed in my compositions.

Warlock Asylum: What is some of the feedback you’ve received from the music you have released thus far?

Jesse Neo: After moving to Los Angeles, I was told that I had a very distinct sound to a point that no one can listen to my songs and mistaken them to be by another artist. There had been a few times when I played my songs to strangers and they instantly told me that they’ve heard the song because the sound has been stuck in their minds all this time.

Warlock Asylum: What can we expect to hear from Jesse Neo in the near future? Any final thoughts?

Jesse Neo: In the coming year, I will be releasing more songs and filming a music video. Making a music video has been something that I have wanted to do for a very long time, so I am extremely nervous yet excited about it. Lastly, of course, I will also be working on my music platform, Gemtracks, my beats store. My store is pretty a place where you, as an artist, can go to purchase beats and instrumentals to use in your own releases.

*On behalf of Warlock Asylum International News, I would like to with Jesse Neo all the best on his artistic and earthly endeavors. Please keep us updated on new beginnings and reports of success. Salute!
